I just happened across this the other day (after finishing Dangerous Liasions..holy god Glenn Close...how does she not have an Oscar?)...this really should've stayed as the original ending.

Thank God they didn't keep it ! I prefer the one from the film . More tense , exciting and chilling . What a great finale it was ! If it were just a psychological drama , ok then but not for a thriller of that kind.

Honestly, I thought that the theatrical ending seemed a little out of place? Fatal Attraction, until the end, came across (to me anyway) like a psychological drama.

That's better than that stupid ass jump scare in the original ending

That's better than that stupid ass jump scare in the original ending Yeah, that's pretty much how I felt about that ending. It seemed like it was an ending to a cheap horror movie.

I thought this ending was not only more suspenseful, but more realistic than the "slasher movie" ending they went with. And Anne Archer's performance in this ending is incredible, and could've potentially got her closer towards a potential Oscar. As well as a potential Oscar for Glenn Close as well. Shame that they cut this ending; it's significantly better than the one they wound up using.

Always wished they'd used this one. The actually used one is so cheap and desperate.

After watching this, I am at a loss. This is so much better than the actual ending, and if they had used this, chances are Glenn would have an Oscar.

Even with the slasher ending, the loss should've led to her winning an Oscar for Dangerous Liasions (she should've won that for performance by itself, but having lost four times previously? I mean...).

I always thought the alternate ending was a lot better and it's nice to see that many others here agree.

Like all of the BP nominees that year, it came out in December, but unlike the others, it was too late to qualify for the Golden Globes. I sometimes wonder if that cost her the award that year, because she was brilliant.

Adrian Lyne said that they screened the film before its release and the audience did not like the original ending. They wanted Close' character to get her comeupance. Hence the ending we got which I absolutely love.

I didn't realize that. What a shame. That would've been a great win for that category.
