Dietrich's snub is one of the worst in history. But I think everything about that film is inspired, Lanchester included.

Oh honey, I agree. It's probably her best performance (along with Judgment at Nuremberg) where she tries a bit of acting...

I loved her in it and it's not an either/or situation. Dietrich was equally good (as co-lead) and probably snubbed because of category confusion.

Inspired. The ridiculous inclusion in the supporting actress category was the Oscar winner's.

Dietrich was campaigned lead, she was nominated for a Globe there. Lanchester is fun, I prefer her over the actual winner, and Diane Varsi, so I wouldn't call her nom ridiculous, nor really all that inspired either.
