Definitely the 1st one . Ghost Protocol, Rogue Nation & Fallout were all dope as hell though. I'd make a case that Ghost Protocol really gave the MI franchise the adrenaline shot it needed. Great mix of drama/suspense/comedy at the time & balls to walls action. Thank you Mr Bird!
The weakest ones were the abysmal MI2 & very avg 3rd one .

Haven't seen the new one yet, but my favorites are Ghost Protocol and Rogue Nation, and I give the slight edge to the latter. Ghost Protocol was the first to really find the right tone for the series, combining humor with thrilling set pieces and being fun without going too over the top. And then Rogue Nation topped it by actually giving Hunt a compelling female foil with her own agenda. GP and RN also foreground the IMF missions as more of a team effort and I like how they're not just the Tom Cruise show the whole time. The first one is solid with some classic set pieces, the third one is fine... PSH is certainly memorable as the villain, though the tone overall is too oppressive and Hunt's relationship with his wife is just not interesting. The second one is terrible.
My ranking:
Rogue Nation Ghost Protocol I III II

The first one is one of the greatest summer blockbusters of all time. Pretty close to perfect for what it is.
III and IV are solid, Rogue Nation was okay. I even think II is alright. It's dumb but the action is great.

Aside from II, I think this series has gotten better with each entry, though I've yet to see Fallout. Surprised that the first entry seems to be winning out. I know it has De Palma behind it, but what I've come to admire about the series as it's gone along is the sheer amount of creativity and high-octane thrills presented in the most compelling and authentic way imaginable so in that sense the first comes off as fairly tame and phony.

Fallout and Rogue Nation are pretty well on par at the top of the pack, but I think I liked Rogue Nation more by a hair.

Not a huge fan of the series, the first, the best.

Don't get me wrong, I like the first... but wowie, I wasn't expecting it to be winning handsomely.

The first by far. Then 2. I like 2, it's stupid and silly and perfectly enjoyable for what it is. Thandie Newton is pretty great, too. "You're not going to kill me, John. Not this bitch." 3 is a mess held together only by PSH when he's on screen (and even he seems bored). I mean, tennis balls? We went from the cable drop to launching tennis balls?Ghost Protocol is so damn forgettable that I've pretty much forgotten its existence. Better than 3, but meh. Haven't seen RN or Fallout.

Hoping to see Fallout this week, but right now I'd rank them as:
1) Rogue Nation - 8/10 2) Ghost Protocol - 8/10 3) III - 7.5/10 4) I - 7.5/10 5) II - 2/10
Generally, I think this is a terrific action franchise that's full of fun and energy. The second film just really weirdly stands out like a sore thumb.

The first one drags and is quite forgettable.
Ghost Protocol for real thrills.

Glad to see the 1st one is winning. It's the only one that's actually a real movie while the rest of them, though fun as all hell, just became progressively dumber and more ridiculous.

Rogue Nation Ghost Protocol III
don't really have any loyalty to the 1st one. Apart from that one heist sequence, it's not on the same level as the later films action-wise. I've seen it three times and still very little stands out to me in its nearly 2-hour runtime.
