He's one of my favorites. 1983: Supporting Actor, Possession1988: Actor, Evil Angels1993: Supporting Actor, The PianoNote: I go by US release dates. Any recommendations for me? He's one of the most dependable actors in the business - I'll watch him in anything.

Just a Best Actor nomination for In the Mouth of Madness. I agree that he's one of the most dependable actors out there, but his best work is either in years that I consider far too strong or that he just isn't given the really strong roles he deserves.
By the by, you should check out Sweet Country if you haven't already. He doesn't have a whole lot of screentime but he owns what he does get.

Just one for the criminally underrated (around these parts at least) The Hunt for Red October.

I nominate him for "In the Mouth of Madness" and probably for "Possession" as well.
as for recommendations, I'd recommend "Sirens", "Restoration" and "Sweet Revenge". He's not a standout maybe but if you don't know much about the true story it is inspired by, then "In Her Skin" is an interesting watch as well. "Daybreakers" is also a cool genre film.

I know it's not the Oscars but I would have nominated him for an Emmy for his work in The Tudors.
