I think she's lead actually - and different from the play with them which was even more a Denzel show. The way Washington stages it in the film gives her a deeper focus and a grounded and central perspective. I would guess most people would say Support but to me I've seen so many versions of that play where she's completely marginalized, I notice the difference here.

She barely factors into the first half of the film. It’s entirelt the Denzel show. The only reason people think she’s Lead is because she is lead on stage but lead/featured roles are treated differently on stage than on film. When she’s on stage, you can focus on her performance the entire way through but on film, if she’s in the scene/setting but the camera isn’t on her, she’s not leading the scene.
