Even if the film's overall reviews are mixed or bad, I don't doubt that her reviews will be strong. Her dexterity with accents and perceived range have given her the "next Meryl Streep" title by many, and if that's the case, she'll be a perennial nominee. But does this seem premature? Perhaps Margot Robbie will pull focus? Maybe Emma Stone in The Favourite is a bigger threat than we're realizing?

I've heard from a friend of mine who got to preview the film that it is far, far better than the trailer suggests, and I generally trust his judgment. So there's that.
In any case, yes, I've been predicting Ronan since last year, when it looked like McDormand had pretty well sealed the deal with the industry. You can generally chart an actress's success with the Academy, and Ronan is at the perfect age for them to reward her in Best Actress. She's young, she's got a few nominations, and she is immensely charming and works the circuit. The only thing that held her back last year was her role isn't exactly the sort they like to recognize. But playing a historical figure like Mary, Queen of Scots? That's exactly what they will go for.
As for The Favourite, I've heard that Stone is excellent and will likely be in play, but there might be a chance she runs supporting and that Colman will be their leading push for it (and that she is apparently amazing as well).

The Academy seems to be in love with her right now (who can blame them?) so it wouldn't surprise me if it gets in for actress and costumes/production design even if the reviews are mixed.

She's had 2 nods in 3 years... safe to think they like her, they really like her.

I still think Margot will be the one to get the best reviews and possibly the only Oscar nom{supporting}for this.

It's Saoirse, it's Focus, it's baity. She's probably getting nominated. After the trailer I doubted that she could actually win, but it's perfectly conceivable if Stephen's source is to be believed.

I'm not saying the won't get that nod, but I'm not counting on that. I don't know, it looks like one of those things that seem like sure-fire on paper and people predict even in the previous year, but doesn't live up to the hype.

A past nominee who knows how to work a circuit in a role designed for awards recognition. I’d say it’s an Oscar nominee.

I just mean I think they'll be someone eventually who comes around, and will dominate all the talk a bit more, but by the time Ronan's film comes around, she probably is going to be on most people's ballots, but I expect there to be more talk about someone else. Also, it's got to be a very weak year for the female performance with most passionate following to be in a movie that doesn't really smell like passion, as good as it might turn out to be. If she was deemed overdue, she could win. But it's obvious that a more eye-catching option will emerge from the fall festivais, as it always does.
