... Which of their nominated performances do you prefer? (* denotes a win.) I'm only voting if I've seen both performances.
1938: Fay Bainter - 'White Banners' or 'Jezebel'* 1942: Teresa Wright - 'The Pride of the Yankees' or 'Mrs. Miniver'* 1982: Jessica Lange - 'Frances' or 'Tootsie'* (I think she's near unwatchable in 'F'...) 1988: Sigourney Weaver - 'Gorillas in the Mist' or 'Working Girl' (I'm not really big on either of these performances... But since she's a complete cartoon in 'WG,' I'll pick 'GITM.') 1992: Al Pacino - 'Scent of a Woman'* or 'Glengarry Glen Ross' 1993: Holly Hunter - 'The Piano'* or 'The Firm' (lol) 1993: Emma Thompson - 'The Remains of the Day' or 'In the Name of the Father' 2002: Julianne Moore - 'Far from Heaven' or 'The Hours' 2004: Jamie Foxx - 'Ray'* or 'Collateral' 2007: Cate Blanchett - 'Elizabeth: The Golden Age' or 'I'm Not There.' (lol)

haven't seen most of these full pairings but this is what i got
1982: Jessica Lange - Frances or Tootsie (love her in both)
1993: Emma Thompson - The Remains of the Day or In the Name of the Father (like her in ITNOTF, but she doesn't have much to do yea? No contest)
2002: Julianne Moore - Far from Heaven or The Hours (considering Moore was the weakest thing about Hours and the best thing about FFH, this is an easy choice)
2004: Jamie Foxx - Ray or Collateral (compelling, deeply humanistic performance or competent mimicry. hmmm which do i choose?)

1942: Teresa Wright - 'The Pride of the Yankees' or 'Mrs. Miniver'* 1988: Sigourney Weaver - 'Gorillas in the Mist' or 'Working Girl' (I'm a big WG fan, but she was the weakest of the trio) 1993: Emma Thompson - 'The Remains of the Day' or 'In the Name of the Father' 2004: Jamie Foxx - 'Ray'* or 'Collateral'

Teresa Wright. Great in both, but it has to be Mrs. Miniver, one of the great wins for the category Jessica Lange. A case of the lesser of the two evils... Tootsie, she's soft and charming but it's out of sync from the rest of the cast Sigourney Weaver. Agree with you on WG, hate that film. Gorillas by a large margin Holly Hunter. I've seen The Firm and I have no recollection of her being in that movie Emma Thompson. Phenomenal in In the name.... but Remains of the Day is one of the all-timers Julianne Moore. Far from Heaven, hands down Cate Blanchett. I have a special spot for The Golden Age, is so campy and she's having loads of fun, I enjoy it so much, but again, I'm not There is one of the greats.
