You would think that the pioneer behind the amazingly realistic looking Planet of the Apes films would know to make sure that his animals for a Jungle Book film also look as good, you know, because that’s what we naturally expect. It’s like distractingly not good. I never thought I’d say that Favreau would do a better job in the CGI department.

Disregarding how good or bad the effects look (and I’ll give them the benefit of the doubt that they’re still polishing it), it looks distractingly similar to the Disney go. Similar lighting, similar character models, even downright copying shots. Except, in some cases, it looks actively worse, and it’s gonna take a lot more than polish to fix whatever happened to Kaa.
Not really sold on the voice acting yet. Bale feels a little young for Bagheera, and Cumby is just doing Smaug again.

I'm not sure if we really needed this

oh god that CGI is bad. Hope they do some more polishing. Otherwise it looks alright. If the adaptation is more faithful to Kipling's story that would already give it points over Favreau's lightweight bastardization. At least the (seemingly) dark tone of the trailer is a step in the right direction.

I liked how this movie is going to be closer in tone to the book. It looks alright to me so far. I knew this movie went into production around the same time as the Favereau's version. I think Ryan_ MYeah may have also put it best about the unfavorable comparison it could receive base on some aesthetics too. Plan ignorance anyway if this case has to resort to the latter before the film is out...

I'm not sure if we really needed this Well... since this movie went into production around the same time as the latest Disney version, probably nothing can be really done to evade the coincidences now. There could be a chance that neither studio knew about the other before it was too late.

I'm actually kinda hyped for this. Yes I know, its another version of the Jungle Book, but it definitely looks a hell of a lot more grimm in tone than any previous version.

Remember when this movie was supposed to come out in October 2016?

Poor Andy Serkis, he must have worked so hard to get the CGI and motion capture done but only to dump in Netflix.
