As much as I dislike the film Taxi Driver, I do love De Niro in it. All the same, I still give a reasonably easy vote to Pacino here.

There's 6 performances that I consider the "greatest" male actor, English language acting feats of the modern era 1967 onward. I never rank them or compare them to each other because they are, really, touched by genius, and I am after all just a mere mortal.
Brando, Last Tango Pacino, GFII Pacino, DDA DeNiro, Taxi Driver DeNiro, Raging Bull DDL, TWBB

As much as I dislike the film Taxi Driver, How I've always found it a rather uninvolving film, and while it has many impressive moments and a couple of really good scenes; it doesn't work as a whole for me. I've always particularly disliked the Scorsese scene in the cab, where I found the writing was already trying to hard and things were being forced, and Scorsese himself might have done well to stay behind the camera. When De Niro and Foster are on screen together, things are great, but elsewise..I rarely felt it. I'm almost sure I'll never watch this again.

The Scorsese scene in the cab is the only thing about the movie that works. I almost think Marty focused on the wrong character for the movie. What's that passenger's story?

Well even if we dislike it for different reasons, at least we'll always know we're not the only one on the board that dislikes it.

Both fantastic performances but I'd give Pacino the edge.

I'm judging this on the hotter look factor in the op. Al destroys De Niro in every fashion
