I know it basically JUST came out, but keep us all updated those of you who are watching.
What I'm saying is that you guys will pretty much determine if it's this, The Sinner, or Jack Ryan I delve into after 15 more episodes of The Americans.

I'm watching it starting tomorrow. I'll let you know, Fish, if it's worth it.
Hated the first two eps of The Sinner, though.

Two episodes in, I'm really enjoying it. I'm getting the sense it might not be as complex and full of depth as it wants to be/thinks it is, but it's still hugely fun to watch and I am fascinated to see where it goes next. The tone of the show is a great mix of quirky humour and something darker and moodier, and Hill and especially Stone make for a terrific leads. I can't wait to watch more.
The Sinner is a very solid watch as well, though it has its lulls and starts getting a bit too convoluted for its own good. Makes for a good binge though.

Just finished and I quite liked it. I have a few problems regarding Jonah Hill's storyline and casting. I don't think his plot is as interesting as Stone's or Theroux's, I thought it was a bit boring at times and I couldn't understand why those things were important. Also, while Hill's acting is okay in this, I think there are so many actors who would fit the part more. Hill just doesn't have the warmth to ground his character and make him very root-able.
Other than that, no complaints. Stone, Sally Field and Justin Theroux are in full-on beast mode, they did a great job balancing the humour and the darkest aspects of the story. It's visually stunning (yet I confess I was expecting something more acid trip-ish) and so, so well directed.

Five episodes in... not really feeling it tbh. First few episodes seemed to be setting up something great, but the last two (4&5) didn't do much for me. Maybe I just don't know what to make of it... are these things supposed to feel like a dream or what? If that's the case, they're some of the most boring dreams ever. Needs more Theroux too...
I guess I'll take my time with the next five and see what happens...

Watched the first episode last night and thought it was pretty garbage... Lonely awkward white male protagonist has SCHIZOPHRENIA (*gasp*), manic pixie dream girl love interest whom he has a cosmic connection to ... dear lord. (I mean, this has to be self-aware, right? Unfortunately, it's also not funny enough to feel like it is...) I can't believe people still find interest in this kind of crap. Only thing I kinda liked about it was the dystopia design, but even that had me thinking, "We get it, you watched Blade Runner and Brazil before making your show" the entire time. The combination of influences makes it look somewhat original, but at the same time most of the design elements feel super derivate.
Gonna try to watch more to see if Stone becomes any more of a character or if the story actually ventures into more creative territory. But the first impression was pretty bad. (At least there's some hopefulness in the fact that Netflix's best show & my personal all-time favorite also had an awful first episode, so I should really give other stuff the benefit of the doubt.)

Mixed on this, it's mostly just bushed non-sense, half-amusing, well-shot. Theroux and Sally Field give interesting performances. Jonah Hill's dial-tone of a performance sort of wicks a lot of the show into a dreary, somnambulate state...
But! Emma Stone....... is kinda terrific here. For me, she carries the whole thing and is probably the only reason to watch this show. She pulls off her roguish, edgy character....it's a deeply effective performance, she gives the character weight and humor, and she's often actually having fun with the role (in certain sequences you know what they are).
In fact - still mulling over the whole thing but - this might be her career best work. I liked her Easy A, Birdman, Irrational Man, La La Land and others. But here she actually wowed me and overcame a lot of the iffy material and practically proves her weight in gold.

Two episodes in. It kinda feels like Fukunaga binged Tarkovsky and Soderbergh and remixed them with a groovy '70s aesthetic. Hill's gaunt internalization and Stone's acidic brusqueness are setting up for some amazing dynamics coming down the pike. Both of them are hitting some very high marks right out of the gate, acting-wise.

Finished it... total crap honestly. A generous 5/10... Tonally fucked... ("Annie, I'm a hawk!" -- probably the stupidest shit I've seen in years.) and hardly added up to anything. I'm stunned that a lot of writing was done by Leftovers alum, considering that show probably had the best "conscious in a dream/alternate reality/whatever the fuck" sequences ever. Literally every time they took the pill and went under resulted in the most nonsensical, boring shit possible. I wanted to throw my TV remote at the screen when Jonah Hill had that blonde wig on and was speaking with the worst Russian accent of all time. Probably should have been 5 episodes tops, or even a 2 hour movie... though I doubt it could have been saved either way. Emma Stone was definitely great though... Jonah Hill goes between very good (mostly in the first and last episode) to all-time bad (where he mumbled most of his lines and acted comatose -- wow buddy, someone should have told him that there's other ways to show your character is depressed). Theroux tried his best but his character stopped being interesting after his first appearance. The cameo by the legend Hank Azaria was one of the highlights of this shitshow. Huge disappointment.

I just finished it, and I really enjoyed it. I can see the complaints Viced had as valid, but personally, I keyed into what the show was going for and just let it wash over me.

Wow...so skimming the thread it seems this is getting a mixed response. I'll watch it at some point, but I'm moving it down the list for now. Thanks folks!

I don't think I want to continue.

LOVED IT! David Lynch meets Charlie Kaufman!! The ending was pretty anti-climatic and a bit too normal considering the wild & exciting surreal fantasy that preceded it, but other than that it's definitely one of the better Netflix shows this year.

It was an Icelandic accent and it was meant to be a mess since that was the joke and it's such a contrarian piece of shit thing to say that the Azaria cameo was a highlight.

I don't give a flying fuck, it was awful either way. 3. The whole thing felt like a total waste of time once I got to the final episode, so to see one of my favorite actors show up made sitting through all that nonsense feel a tiny bit worth it.

By episode 3 and 4 I was on board when it got a lot more kooky. It takes itself way too seriously, but for the most part I had fun. The techs and music are great and the cast is really good. Very surprised by Hill.
