Pattinson with ease for me. The praise for Gyllenhaal in this one baffles me.

Both utterly mesmerising performances, but Pattinson has the edge for me.

"Mesmerizing" is a good word to describe Pattinson, and he was truly phenomenal . . . but Jake the Snake wins out here.

Gyllenhaal for me and he should have been nominated for an Oscar (hell, if it weren't for Keaton in Birdman, I'd give Jake G the win that year)
On a side note, Pattinson has come so far as an actor. When I was watching Good Time, I couldn't believe that was the same guy in those awful Twilight movies.

Pattinson was good, but Gyllenhaal was great.

Pattinson was good, but Gyllenhaal was great. Gyllenhaal was fine, hardly great. Nothing about that performance really felt authentic to me.

Both great and both deserved Oscar nominations, but I'm going to give the slight edge to Pattinson, who is my personal win. Gyllenhaal comes in second to Fiennes.

Slight edge to Gyllenhaal but I'm a big fan of both.

Gyllenhaal, who was more memorable and more inspired, and whose work just feels more instantly iconic. Nightcrawler is his career-best performance and it'll probably stay that way. Pattinson's work in Good Time is a revelation, but I feel like he's still got even better things ahead of him.
