Share your thoughts? Were you really able to muster the strength to sit through the entire thing?

It feels every single ounce of its runtime, and the worst thing about it is that I never once buy the chemistry between Fiennes and Scott Thomas. Both are far too clinical and remote for me to give any single amount of shit about their relationship or what they have to endure in the course of the movie. With that said, the cinematography is gorgeous (although John Seale would shoot desert vistas in a far more affecting way in 2015) and Juliette Binoche is luminous and really does so much of the film's heavy lifting.
Short answer: I'm with Elaine.

Somehow I managed to watch the entire thing in one sitting, but only by force I would put myself through it again.
