Great film. Probably the warmest film Baumbach has ever made and it features such a heartfelt, totally brilliant performance by Greta Gerwig. "Modern Love" sequence may not be original but is definitely one of my favorite scenes of its year.

It's okay. I didn't really feel any connection to the material or characters. The cinematography is nice though

Baumbach's best film to date.

Quirky, energetic, fun, warm. Second only to Squid and the Whale in Baumbach's filmography, and Gerwig's greatest performance to date.

The only film where I found Greta Gerwig more bearable than anything. Great stuff from Baumbach too

This was a thoroughly lovely surprise for me when I first watched it. I found myself far more invested in the story than I probably should ever have been, and I genuinely cared about this lovely, flawed woman. Gerwig & that gorgeous cinematography were the stars of the show.
Noms & Wins
Best Picture (#9) Best Actress, Greta Gerwig Best Cinematography (#5)
I'll be re-evaluating line-ups as we move back with the AMARAs, I feel like this is one film that'll make some nomination gains.

I don't remember much about it all except finding it deadly boring, pretentious, wonky and Gerwig unbearable. Who knows if I'd feel that way today, but I don't really want to find out.

I may be biased, but in as strong a year in a single category as there has ever been... The Great Gerwig is my win. What an angel. Definitely my favourite Baumbach too, probably because it has her fingerprints on it as much as his. Like a spiritual sequel to the movie she just made. The quarter life crisis in all its miserable glory.

Very solid, good, witty screenplay and nice B&W photography. Definitely prefer it to Lady Bird.

I did like a lot of the camera shots and the black and white added something extra to the film.

One of my favorite films. Funny, fun, heartwarming, always-quotable, well-edited, gorgeous to look at, and with the greatest Gerwig ever.

Pretty great. There’s an Allen-esque musicality to the dialogue and Baumbach misdirects the audience without patronizing to them. Gerwig is a star.

She's got a couple acting roles on the docket right now, but nothing else has been announced for directing. So she's not becoming a full time director right now.
