One of my friends just watched Blade Runner 2049 and it didn't register with her that Ryan Gosling's character dies in the end. She wanted to know what happens after the final scene, and I was like She was really mad that she didn't pick up on the fact that he's not just taking a nap in the snow Have you or someone you know ever completely missed an embarrassingly obvious plot detail in a movie?

The first time I saw Dressed To Kill I completely missed that Bobbi and Dr. Elliot were the same person which is basically impossible to do unless you are not watching closely, a little slow, or too young to get it - at that time I was probably guilty on all counts

From the Age of Innocence I don't know what I was doing the first time that I watched this movie, but I came away from it totally in love with Winona and thinking what an angel she was in it. Then some time later had a conversation with someone where I expressed this to them, and they looked at me kind of like this...

When I first saw The Sound of Music as a child, I thought that the nuns had sabotaged the Von Trapps' car because they thought it best to not piss off the Nazis, and that the final shot of the family ascending the mountains was a metaphor for them ascending to heaven because they had been captured and executed.

I saw The Skin I Live In at the movies with best friends who are twins, one of them (who was generally the smarter of the two...) completely missed the twist.

Not exactly a "plot" detail, but I've seen The Last Jedi twice now, and I can't for the life of me figure out where the boy with the broom uses the Force at the end.

She was so beautiful in that movie and the character was so sweet and non threatening. All the bad things about her (the snobbery and her obliviousness/stupidity) are all undercurrents that you don't pick up on right away.

This is amazing.
