I feel like generally the academy will get at least a handful of very good or great films in the lineup, but they usually always have those inevitable 'meh' through to bad films spoiling the lineups. Link to the nominees...I actually think 2012 is the best overall, other years definitely have higher highs, but they also have much lower lows. 2012, aside from the tolerable Lincoln, has a run of eight very good to great films, which I rate between 8 & 9 out of 10. In terms of the worst, that is unquestionably 2011.

2015. Even the weakest film (The Big Short) is still watchable and entertaining, but any lineup that has Mad Max: Fury Goddamn Road in it will win this.

2015. The only lineup in which I liked every movie. And the lineup had Fury Road and Brooklyn, the two best movies of the year, which rarely happens.

Haven't seen all the nominees, but I will go with 2016.

2010 and it's not close. Social Network, Toy Story III, Black Swan, Winter's Bone, The Fighter, even Inception. The one that won was actually one of the worst nominees that year.

easily 2016 for me. There's only three duds in the whole lineup (Fences, Lion, Hacksaw), the rest range from pretty good to great, and that's more than I can say for any of the other lineups. 2017 and 2010 are probably next in line. Weakest is either 2011 or 2012

2013 had the best lineup since 1975, so that one.

2010 is the only year where I have genuinely liked all of the nominated films.

2009 had The Hurt Locker, An Education, Inglourious Basterds, A Serious Man, Up in the Air and Up. Solid 6 movies, but Avatar, The Blind Side, Precious and District 9 are unbearable. I liked all the nominees from 2010, except for The King's Speech and The Kids Are All Right, which are just okay. 2011 and 2012 were both two very strong years, which only one movie each I didn't like (Extremely Boring & Incredibly Dull and Les Miserables) 2013 didn't really have a bad movie in the line-up, but I'm only excited about half of them. 2014 was all very good, if you can forget that The Imitation Game is a thing. I know I did. 2015 was also very good, I wouldn't exclude any of the films from the line-up even if they're not all on my 10 best of the year. 2016 had some of my all-time favorites (Arrival, La La Land and Manchester By The Sea), and one I really admire, even if I don't love it (Moonlight). That said, I liked Lion and HOHW but they didn't deserve a nod. And don't even get me started on those three turds (Fences, Hacksaw Ridge and Hidden Figures). I'm really excited for all 2017 movies, even the flawed ones (3BOEM) and the baity (Darkest Hour and The Post). So it's gotta be this or 2015. Replace TIG for Gone Girl and 2014 would be a no-brainer.
