Yes please. I hope they take their sweet time with it to make it as good as the first one, but in this team I trust. I'd love for Guadagnino to pull a Linklater/Truffaut and shoot more installments in real time following these characters over the years.

I'm sure I'll watch this, but to be honest, I didn't really see this as a film that needed further storytelling. I was pretty much fine with how it ended.

Is it about Armie Hammer's character getting arrested for diddling kids? I might be wrong, because I was very young in 1983 and law has changed, but, if I don't remember badly, sex between an adult and an underage girl/boy was against the law back then unless the age difference was less than 3 years. I haven't seen the movie, but I read the guys are 17 and 24. It meant jail for the adult.

I could easily see this becoming the next Before trilogy, as long as the sequels are done well.

I'm sure I'll watch this, but to be honest, I didn't really see this as a film that needed further storytelling. I was pretty much fine with how it ended. It works perfectly fine as a stand-alone story and the ending wraps it up nicely, but I'd love to revisit these characters a few years down the line, especially as Aciman's novel does continue several years into the future after the point the film left things at. Not drawing comparisons to the Before trilogy here is basically impossible, but having Elio and Oliver reunite a few years later opens up numerous thematic possibilities, especially if Guadagnino and Aciman are as successful as Linklater, Delpy and Hawke were in exploring the passage of time and the bittersweet contrast between the idealized romance of youth and the complications of real everyday life.

This doesn't seem like such a great idea. The first one worked fine just on its own.

I love this idea, provided they do it well. I'd hate for a bad sequel to overshadow a brilliant film that works just fine on its own. Hoping for the best.

Even if it was illegal, wouldn't the parents have to press charges? The parents knew what was happening and the father mind as well have given them explicit permission to have sex.

If the police or the Court for the rights of minors knew about it, you're automatically put under arrest. And if it turns out parents allowed it, they're sent to prison as well. This law is to protect kids from adults that could take advantage of their young age.

Hopefully Hammer improves as an actor by then.

I really think this could turn out to be good, even if it's not really necessary.

This will be the beginning of the superhero and SW franchises replacements for sure. Mark my words.
Though, I did read that the third film in the Name franchise will have Michael Sheen reprising his role from Underworld. So, crossover?
