Life of Pi star Irrfan Khan reveals he is battling a 'rare disease' Vittorio Zunino Celotto/Getty Images Luria Freeman March 06, 2018 AT 09:18 AM EST
Bollywood icon Irrfan Khan, best known in the U.S. for his roles in Oscar-winning films Life of Pi and Slumdog Millionaire, revealed via Twitter on Monday that he has contracted a “rare disease.”
“Sometimes you wake up with a jolt with life shaking you up. The last fifteen days, my life has been a suspense story,” Khan wrote in a picture attached to the tweet. “Little had I known that my search for rare stories would make me find a rare disease.”
“I have never given up and have always fought for my choices and always will,” he continued.
Khan has asked that fans “please don’t speculate” until he has presented a conclusive diagnosis.
Recently, filmmaker Vishal Bhardwaj decided to postpone production of an upcoming untitled film starring Khan due to the actor’s health troubles. Last October, Amazon announced that the Amazing Spider-Man actor would lead its Indian political satire The Ministry, which was projected to be released to Prime Video this year. Updates on the progress of that project in light of Khan’s illness are not yet available.
