NO, NOT IN THIS MESSAGE.
I was lucky enough to catch this through my work. I'll say this...it looks baity as hell in its uber-cinematic emotional extravagance. I have zero feelings about Harington's acting abilities, but just based on this trailer, he makes an impact. Likewise for Sarandon and Bates. Portman seems to have the meatiest female role (now that Jess has been axed), but her performance looks a wee bit shaky but by no means terrible. I'll reserve comment about Tremblay just because I think it's always trickier to gage child/prepubescent acting, but will say that he seems to be a perfect fit for the character.
We were also given a super exclusive sneak peak at Valle's "Sharp Objects"...and damn it looks dark. I'm actually super stoked for that one.

I've followed the John F. Donovan production a little bit and it seems so weird. The cast is huge and I still can't figure out what it''s even about.

I think the gist is that Tremblay is a gay boy who starts penning letters to Harington who is struggling with his own sexual identity. The story is told by the grown up version of Tremblay’s character after Harington’s character has passed on.

Shame Amy Adams is in it... I don't know if this shade is directed at Adams (who you don't want to see lead a project you're otherwise excited about) or Gillian Flynn (who you think is beneath Adams and will stain her filmography), but if it's the first, I agree, tbh. Flynn's leads are rotten and mean in ways that Adams has largely avoided throughout her career, much as I like her. Even Peggy Dodd, which is maybe her most interesting performance this decade, is still a different ballgame from Sharp Objects' Camille. I'm curious to see if this is just gonna be a rehash of her work in The Master + Nocturnal Animals or if she's finally gonna let loose and flex her muscles for once. I still can't figure out what it''s even about. I mean, if Dolan is pulling a Malick with what's supposedly the largest female character of his script one year into post because he suddenly discovered that at its heart the whole film is really about a completely different subject than what was originally announced, there's a good chance he's having trouble with that too. And since I'm showering the guy with praise: I think the gist is that Tremblay is a gay boy who starts penning letters to Harington who is struggling with his own sexual identity. I love that he recently announced that his next film is gonna be about a couple of 20-something guys who fall in love because he saw Call Me by Your Name and God's Own Country and was inspired to explore the subject of male homosexuality from an adult perspective. I'm glad he's following up John F. Donovan (and It's Only the End of the World, and Tom at the Farm, and Heartbeats, and I Killed My Mother, and his acting gig in Boy Erased) by breaking new ground and tackling new subjects.

Zeb31 - You know I'm always here for the Amy Adams shade. Unless we're talking about Junebug, Enchanted, The Fighter, American Hustle, or Arrival.

Geez, when did everyone decide to start shitting on Amy Adams? When the world made sense again. I just finished reading the novel, and Adams is entirely miscast. This would have been a great vehicle for Kirsten Dunst. The only real reason to look forward to the miniseries is Patricia Clarkson.
