Very great, the best of 2010 and a great lead performance too that Edgar Ramirez hasn't really lived up to since

I haven't seen it but after L'heure d'été shot Assayas over the moon for me I'm definitely anticipating it.

So good. Not seen the shortened version, but in it's legit format it's by far my favourite thing I've seen from Assayas, and Ramirez is immense in it.

If I remember correctly this was my first Assayas, I've only seen the mini serie format and it's incredibly well done, it's a sea of information but it's neatly put together, the aesthetic reminded me a bit of Traffic but unlike that one, I don't think Carlos will age badly for the way he see his main character, and while in themes it might be an "anomaly" ( at least for me because I have more present his more experimental phase ) is that particular eye Assayas has to portrait characters that gives room for interpretation although everything is there is just a matter of what you're focusing on. But I'll say I didn't find Ramirez' performance particurly great the second time I saw it, it's ma movie heavy on screenplay and his performance was a bit didactic.
