I really don't like it, which is a surprise, as I generally dig John le Carre. But it doesn't work for me, and I was one of the lone detractors of Weisz's win way back on OB, back when it routinely rated really highly in polls and whatnot. I've seen people cool on it in the last couple of years, so hopefully that means my distaste for it has been vindicated.
With that said, hope it works for ya.

Brilliant, with my favorite performance of the 2000s in Ralph Fiennes. Criminally snubbed.

Greeeeeeeeat film. It's not really saying much, but I think it's comfortably the best Le Carre adaptation in a good long while. Slick as all hell.

Jesus, that ending was a real bummer.

Has everything I need. A heart-wrenching romance and a soul-crushing conspiracy that cuts right to the top of power and speaks toward real-world concerns. Rachel Weisz was outstanding (barely outshined by Adams that year), and Fiennes was deeply affecting. Critically undervalued in 2005, but at least the screenplay, editing, and score got mentions. I guess 2005 was a pretty stacked year though...
Anyways, it's one of my favorite films and easily my favorite Le Carre adaptation. It hits me hard every time.

Jesus, that ending was a real bummer. But at the same time, it's very satisfying (the one part, not so much the other...).

Love it, Weisz and Fiennes are fantastic and the way that story was told was very refreshing, how they played the sames scenes twice each time showing completely different emotion and meaning when it came to Weisz
