Tonight is the premiere, and here's the opening credits. Let's get hype.
Winner picks, anyone? I'm really liking the look of Kellyn, Wendell, Brendan and (surprisingly) Stephanie Johnson. Really not high on Chris, Gonzalez, or Angela.

Pretty damn good pre-merge so far.

Yeah, this pre-merge is fantastic, and I am loving the Ghost Island mechanic. I gotta say that last night's elimination was a real gut punch for me. I am rooting hardcore for the old Malolos (Stephanie is my winner pick, and I love Brendan/Michael/Donathan/Laurel/James), and seeing Brendan go out last night hurt . . . but what a fantastic tribal council. Michael played an incredible bluff, but he didn't sway any of the old Naviti to his side and he did misplay the idol. I love his ambition and his ballsiness, but he screwed up by not pulling a Mike Holloway and telling Sebastian/Chelsea that they were putting two votes on Bradley and two on another member, and if they didn't want to be taken out on the revote, they should flip on Bradley. Instead, he gave them no reason to flip because even if Michael played his idol right, Bradley gets taken out by four Malolo votes and no one needed to betray Naviti.
I love that they're setting Bradley up as the big villain, and the longer he sticks around, the more glorious his downfall will be.

The latest episode was such a beautiful, heart-wrenching sendoff to a player who did nothing wrong except wind up on the wrong side of the numbers and who desperately wanted to cling to a game she had loved for so long. I don't think I've ever been this affected by a vote-out in all my time watching, simply because of the emotion brought by Stephanie and amplified by the editors. Bravo, production. If any pre-merge player ever deserves a second chance, it's Steph.
Also, totally warming up to Chris. He's a tactless goof, but you can tell he's got a heart of gold buried in there somewhere.

That Chris rap, though. What the hell was that? Seriously, though, I love that we've got two great villains this season, but while Bradley is the cutthroat, Brian Heidik-esque machine being set up for a glorious downfall, Chris is being given enough sympathetic content that we can root for him, while still shaking our heads at the shit he does.

Now that's how you do a merge.

Greatest merge episode the show has ever had (yes, settle down Cagayan/Second Chance lovers!). The fall of Chris Noble will rank as one of the greatest story arcs in the show's history.
Also gotta love that J.T. is still screwing up people's games when he isn't even on the season. What a legend.

It started out amazing, but I think it ran a bit too long and even though I still found it funny, it came off making Wendell look kind of like a dick. Like, you didn't need to keep dogpiling on Chris, and you'd pretty much made your point in the first 15 seconds. I seem to be in the minority, but I thought Dom pulling a Penner ("DENISE!") and calling out Chris while voting was funnier, especially as it seemed there wasn't any malice between them.

Michael is my new favorite player this season. Awesome job. He's the odd man out and I have no idea how he can get out of this, but I hope he can Denise it to the end.
