He's a personal favorite of mine. I just love his TV work (and The Slipper and the Rose is such an enjoyable viewing experience). Unassuming, beautiful singing voice, and quite a versatile actor.

Well, my thoughts are a little superficial because I had a big crush on him when I saw The Thorn Birds as a kid. I don't remember anything about that show or his performance on it because it was so long ago. I just remember his face. He had the most memorable, striking face and eyes. He became my image of a priest back then (before priests started being exposed for molesting children and then my image changed).
On a more personal note, I remember him in an interview telling other gay actors that they should stay in the closet. I wonder if he still feels the same way now that it's a little better for gay actors than it was in his day.

You see what religion does!
I want to rewatch this so bad.

He's the epitome of bland.

PromNightCarrie - Have you seen Petulia? The film itself is sort of a wash, but you should definitely see it for Julie Christie. Chamberlain is very good against-type as her abusive husband, too. It's a gorgeous 60s snapshot. Also, if you're in the mood for a British fairy tale musical, I can't recommend The Slipper and the Rose enough. It was the Queen Mother's favorite film.

No, I've never seen those films. He was always the conflicted priest from the Thorn Birds for me, but I've seen him in a few other things. I might see Petulia because I like Julie Christie too.
