pagesix.com/2022/10/04/al-pacino-signing-blockbuster-book-deal-with-penguin/"Al Pacino is closing a deal with publishing giant Penguin Random House to pen a book, sources exclusively tell us."He's actually kind of a beautiful, poetic writer.... Ever read his email interviews or that love letter to Diane? We know he loves to spin yacht-sized yarns... and he's hilarious.... and hilariously discursive. Give us the unexpurgated 1,200 pg copy! At any rate..... he's joked about this recently, like "you know I'm old when they're asking me to write my memoirs" - I hope he jotted stuff during quarantine times so it doesn't take up too much upcoming time - there are movies to be made, man!

"Al Pacino is closing a deal with publishing giant Penguin Random House to pen a book, sources exclusively tell us."I'm hoping for juicy bombshells: Page 1 - Talks smack about that "midget" Dustin Hoffman, that "awards whore" Jack Nicholson, the "oatmeal / vanilla pudding types" Gene Hackman & Robert Duvall......... and "that fat guy that played my Dad" in The Godfather. Um Page 14 - Talks about his many flops .......but only to say "I'll be dead soon and it's weird, when you're dead nobody talks about those.......but if you have enough classics - and I have a lot - what this strange guy on MAR calls "filmography" - you can just do anything you want after a while.....nobody really cares.....I could do porn and still get nominated for a Golden Globe, someone somewhere is watching Carlito's Way or Insomnia yanno?....De Niro taught me that" .... Page 19 - Talks about actors he likes - including but not limited to "some guy who did this thing off Broadway, that nobody saw and that the critics hated and that there is no video of" Page 26 - until the end of the book - Discusses how his fear of marriage lead to mindblowing sexual debauchery and admits to possible affairs with Madonna, Winona Ryder and um, and most dsturbingly........ Jared Leto

Pacino on set - recently wrapped filming Knox Goes Away - Michael Keaton's second outing as director where he stars as a hitman with dementia (he played a hitman in his debut The Merry Gentleman, too). Other cast: Marcia Gay Harden, James Marsden, Ray McKinnon, Joanna Kulig (Cold War). Written by Greg Poirier (Rosewood, Gossip, etc), described as a "noir thriller" -- Pacino's role unknown as of now. (Hey, w/e happened to that other noir-ish project Sniff he was gonna do with Helen Mirren.)

Yesterday in London, Pacino did one of those weird "An Evening With" events. Someone there said Pacino said he's playing an exorcist in a new movie. Huh?!?! …Apparently it’s a true story, set in 1928. Also a few days ago, French magazine Le Figaro snagged an interview... Highlights: Says he'll have a small role in Depp's Modigliani movie - also adds Stephen Graham is in the cast. Asked the latest films he's been watching. "I want to see all of Isabelle Huppert’s films. She’s such a great actress.” He mentions Napoleon at St Helena as a big role he regrets not doing. Speaks with great fondness of Il Sorpasso (he watched it every night for two months when he was a movie usher).

It's harder to think of a nickname from his filmography compared to De Niro's. At least Bob had Dirty Grandpa.

"Pacino's publicist, Stan Rosenfield, confirmed to The Associated Press on Thursday that the actor, 83, and 29-year-old Noor Alfallah welcomed a son named Roman."

Knox Goes Away plot summary from TIFF - sounds like a few scenes maybe?
TIFF Knox Goes Away 2023 23 Aug 2023
TIFF’s review published on Letterboxd: Michael Keaton directs and plays Knox, a hitman losing his memory, putting him in a race against time to help his estranged son (James Marsden) cover up a messy crime.
Michael Keaton returns to double duty, directing and acting in this crime drama about a hitman who is diagnosed with a fast-moving form of dementia, with one last task to take care of before he can fade away.
After a job goes horribly wrong, John Knox (Keaton) resigns himself to the knowledge that his contract killing days are over and starts gathering his assets to cash out. One night, though, his estranged son, Miles (James Marsden), shows up at his door. Covered in blood and barely able to speak, he begs his father for help covering up a violent crime. Knox sees only one way out, developing a tricky scheme with multiple steps that require precise execution. He enlists the confidence of his friend Xavier (Al Pacino) to keep him on track and begins a race against the clock — and his quickly deteriorating condition — as the police begin to close in with their investigation.
Keaton not only directs this smart script by Gregory Poirier (Rosewood) as a forlorn noir, but adds to his list of memorable performances, portraying Knox’s slow decline from the cold and calculating man who always has a plan, to the lost and confused father looking to make amends. Knox Goes Away makes its mark as a fresh entry into the genre, thanks to the compelling conceit of a man who’s not so eager to hold on to the memories of the things he’s done.
Add this film to your Watchlist and check out more Official Selection titles coming to the 48th annual Toronto International Film Festival. For ticket information visit tiff.net.
See you September 7–17!

Knox Goes Away thoughts from Roger Friedman's Showbiz 411 ......I'm sure there's some other stuff out there floating around:
Michael Keaton could have come to the Toronto Film Festival last night as a director. His excellent thriller, “Knox Goes Away,” opened to a jam packed audience at the Princess of Wales Theater. Many other actors who’ve directed films at the festival have shown up even though their casts stayed away. But Keaton was a no show, which was too bad.
“Knox” is a knockout, a great thriller and mystery that features the actor as well as James Marsden in his best work ever. Marsden just about steals the film playing Keaton’s son who commits a violent murder. Of course, his genes aren’t very good as Keaton plays a hit man who is diagnosed with a form of dementia. Al Pacino, as usual, gives a glowing turn as Keaton’s boss. “I am criminal you know,” he reminds Keaton’s John Knox.
We probably won’t see “Knox” until 2024, and I think both Keaton and Marsden will get a lot of awards attention. High praise too for the well plotted screenplay– which has a lot of humor– from Gregory Poirer.
PS The movie is not all men. Joanna Kulig, so amazing in “Cold War,” is devastating as Knox’s call girl girlfriend. Oscar winner Marcia Gay Harden shines as Knox’s ex wife.
Edit: Mostly negative reviews - some praise for Big Al..........ah well

Edit: Mostly negative reviews - some praise for Big Al..........ah well This is really divisive - my friend who is a slightly well known critic hated this and so did Ruimy but it's at 57% RT off 14 reviews (8 positive) so it maybe will be like one of those 50% dramas ..........3.2 on Letterboxd atm Owen Gleiberman raved Keaton and calls this better than Fincher's The Killer............I fncking doubt that........but still, that's nice ..........I guess..........
