invictusmediapartners.com/films/pacinoyes !! So, Barry Navidi started a legit production company and made this site recently which has some very teasingly exciting bits of info on Pacino-circling projects….. yeah their relationship has yielded approximately two movies but this is who Big Al spends his time with and it points to what they’re actually discussing. So, these are pretty much confirmed as Al options/interests (some I thought he had moved past but I guess not?) : God Looked Away movie adaptation Man on the Rock - Napoleon’s St Helena days Albert Einstein biopic (Barry Levinson to direct?) Aristotle Onassis mini-series and, the big enchilada, King Lear - and the site reveals their first-picks for cast: Kate Winslet, Jessica Chastain, Emily Blunt, Ralph Fiennes, Mark Rylance, Johnny Depp, Oscar Isaac, Kit Harrington….

Hmmmmmm.........I can't believe some of those tbh - I'll never get God Looked Away which might have been a fun lark on stage (maybe, at best) but not at 80+........Onassis and Einstein makes sense - Einstein would be a role Rush has already played so that's an interesting Triple Crown overlap..... If Lear ever happens I almost think of Chastain as a given .......and I actually think Rush would make a great Fool although he's like Rylance where he may want to just be Lear himself on film (and Rush may be done anyway).......if Lear ever happens his Fool casting is a big deal ..........Depp is a great logical Fool choice.....pacinoyes curveball........wait for it..........Dustin Hoffman Surprised there's not that Frank Lloyd Wright pic he mentioned to Willie Geist iirc Interesting though........should hear some more chatter about him as we get closer to House of Gucci interviews too.........

Lear can be convincingly portrayed as a middle aged or old aged man, but having Cordelia, Goneril, Regan, Edmund, Edgar, etc. played by people in their 40s/50s clashes too much with the spirit of the play IMO.

That's true I think - but only partially - not the other 2 sisters - Diana Rigg was in her mid-40s when she played Regan (great too) opposite Olivier and Emily Watson (50?) playing the same part opposite Hopkins - as long as you have a gap between Regan, Goneril and Cordelia it actually helps the play - in a way - by having those 2 "removed" from their sister.......which makes their motivations more believable.

Very weird but Zach Braff on Jimmy Kimmel three years ago said that Pacino told him he always carries around a small Albert Einstein figurine in his pocket (I'm not kidding) - so anyway that Einstein project "Almar" is the big new one we haven't heard about, written by Michael Radford but they want Barry Levinson to direct.
There's a really interesting story there if you look it up - about real life "dormant" spy Margarita Konenkova, 15 years younger than Einstein and the site says they want Blanchett but I wonder if Huppert could work.....seems a bigger budget movie but could also frame it like the Phil Spector movie.... If you think about that one and substitute the characters it writes itself.
Onassis - perfect mini material for HBO or Netflix, surprised this hasn't gone on already, with Weisz as Jackie?
God Looked Away - they should've just done a movie of it then and there after their "workshop" - the tone around the play and feedback was that it really wasn't Broadway quality, but they seemed to keep it near so I was kinda hoping they'd just secretly shoot it, even later on during the quarantine or something... it's a one-room play! Ackerman who directed the play has done a lot of TV Movies... with Judy Davis, Helen Mirren, Susan Sarandon, etc and there's a principal role for an older actress. At this point the elements seem far gone, tho I always wish Pacino would do more play-adaptations.

Just saw American Traitor.
Yes, it was bad. Not Pacino's worst movie ever (oh, boy...) but flat out bad. The script was totally unconvincing, no character development whatsoever, even for the title character, the script was very weak.
Some of Pacino's scenes were juicy, in purpose I guess, and his final speech was a joy. Give the man a speech and just watch... Except from these scenes though, even him didn't try that hard.
And Williams... God she was totally miscast!! Worst part of a bad movie. By far!
5.5/10

^ TerryMontana knows what's up........5.5 is about right I think Pacino gave an interview where once where he said he sometimes takes really crappy movies just to see what he can do with them (fncking weirdo ) and this looks EXACTLY - like that - where his acting makes everyone else looks worse, when he is off-screen the movie is a mess and he provides the sole reason to watch it at all.....so he emerges fine but no one else does....... Btw - Pacino also makes the director look bad because in his one big / great scene (the speech, obviously) he is plays all the text at various points rising and receding like playing a piece of music and he gets to the crescendo point where he says "like my son" which caught me off-guard and is sort of a breathtaking moment.........and the director then CUTS AWAY FROM HIM TO SHOW WILLIAMS........ it is unspeakable - wtf dude

For example Pacino's loss, his deal with the government, the ethical part of the government's decision, the threats against Sally by the Nazis, the sexual harrasment, the murder attempt, the legal path the young lawyer wanted to follow for the case... A total mess!! And honestly Pacino didn't do much to save this mess...

Excellent new interview with Jerry Schatzberg for the 50th anniversary of The Panic in Needle Park. Some good snippets: And read the whole thing if you want to hear about De Niro being pissed for 40 years that he didn't get the lead in Panic.

I love Panic in Needle Park so much. I can't picture De Niro having the same chemistry with Kitty Winn. I've been dying to see Scarecrow for years and I see it's on Amazon Prime, so I will have to get around to it on my day off.

50 year anniversary of the GOAT starring in the movies with tomorrow's movie release: Panic In Needle Park - July, 1971 - House of Gucci - November, 2021A higher number of terrific performances (than anyone?) .........more awards/acclaim across all of the big 3 - Oscar / Tony / Emmy - than any male actor - ever, period - several GOAT-level films ....... a bunch of GOAT-level filmmakers.........opposite more GOAT-level co-stars (than anyone?) ............and he's done it all with more colorful profanity........... and really unnecessary and loud shouting ......

Look man, there's 2 Al Pacino stories in the news today - one is him rubbing Penelope Cruz's belly to bless her unborn son from 12 years ago (because he's "God" gettit?) - THAT'S the normal one.........and then there's whatever the fnck this is. Moderators - can we turn this into a .gif and require everyone to have it in their signatures - because as they say in some parts of Europe "the wolves have taken his mind".

From yesterday. Pacino gave that NYT interview in Feb, but he's been weirdly totally absent from all The Godfather events this month, I was convinced he was away filming something. Every great actor is dying to work with you and you're taking business meetings with De Niro's nemesis?? Rourke said in 2020 that he was doing a Pinocchio movie with Pacino but I'd imagine that's off. Other non-news: Michael Radford gave an interview this week, no Lear mention but says he talks to Al every month and recently convinced him to play Louis B Mayer but the project fell thru. filmtalk.org/2022/03/23/michael-radford/

Ah, well, there's always Hunters......um.......ya never know though - I mean The Irishman happened.......Paterno happened.....sigh * I'm also going to say he is at the Oscars for The Godfather Tribute ftw - if he doesn't slip and break his hip I mean - it gives him a chance for a victory lap and (possibly) photo ops with his mentee, the (possible) Best Actress winner (no jinx!) who will kiss him and celebrate him, yadda yadda. If she thanks Andrew Garfield in her speech and leaves him out .............she's f'n dead to me ......... * I hope he's taken "Sniff" seriously because Helen Mirren will destroy people - especially men - especially great actors - who don't bring their A game opposite her. The beard maybe suggests his look for that movie I guess......... * Mickey Rourke is so punch drunk and Al is so lovably senile - that I am willing to bet they spent that entire lunch talking about filming Angel Heart and what a good time they had on that project

The GOAT doing that "secret project GOAT thing" he sometimes does........"soon to be revealed project on TV" ......is it soft porn Al? Maybe it's Lear bitches - directed by the chick who did 50 Shades of Grey! Pffft. It could happen....... Sam Taylor-Johnson says it was “f****** great” to work with Al Pacino. The ‘Humanity’ director says the ‘The Godfather’ star was “fully on his game” when they collaborated on an episode of an unannounced television series over the COVID-19 lockdown. The 55-year-old filmmaker told the Sunday Times Style: “He was f***ing great, 81 and fully on his game. I learnt so much. He has worked with every great director you admire and you are now giving the directions. I had to be 100 per cent on point.” Sam - who is married to actor Aaron Taylor-Johnson with whom she shares two daughters Romy, 10, and Wylda, 11 - revealed that until his name was dropped she was uninterested in working on the to-be-revealed project.
After hearing the casting choice, She said: I said f*** yes, where do I sign?”

I'm thinking it's Hunters S2....she can't say the project bc Pacino's return is a spoiler/surprise? Plus she's been working on Prime shows recently.

Adam Sandler on Access Hollywood last week was asked about Pete Davidson and between praise just throws out there, "He's working with Pacino right now."
Davidson's IMDb says The Home is filming right now. I think it wrapped recently, actually. Horror from The Purge people set in a retirement home..... there hasn't been any reports on who's playing the older residents so it could be Pacino there? ...unless it's some other project?

Too old though now......... dammit! The Home would be a good flip (theoretically) with Sniff actually .........and Pacino should have done way more horror anyway............Davidson is a big Pacino fan I've seen him mention him before..........which is sort of a given - New York guy, who besides being the GOAT is also quite funny (in real life and on screen) - when I name acclaimed actors missing comedy and I do it constantly - to some degree or more - in their filmographies ..........well, y'all know who they are and it definitely isn't the biggest midget in the game. He mentions him @ 20 seconds here btw: www.audible.com/blog/videos/aq-pete-davidson
