I was blown away! A riveting standout performance! My #2 Best Actress performance of the year! (Natalie Portman in Jackie is my #1)

Yes, she was brilliant as almost always.
The film itself wasn't. I thought that its biggest flaw is that it leaves only little to the audience's imagination.

I wouldn't say that I was disappointed, but... I mean she can do this kind of thing in her sleep. It's not entirely dissimilar to a couple of turns she's given/films she's been in already in the 21st century, though the added comedic element that she definitely plays up is a nice addition that makes it all that little bit more unique. Definitely think Things To Come was the one to watch from her this year.

Definitely think Things To Come was the one to watch from her this year. I don't disagree that this probably wasn't even in the realm of difficult for her, other than maybe doing this kind of thing in the genre frameworks, but I think that's kind of why it's so great and fun to watch and still easily better than her fellow nominees. No one else in the world can pull this off at this level so seamlessly. I much preferred Things to Come overall, though, and everyone should also see it.

My second favourite performance of 2016 after Rebecca Hall in Christine.

Rewatch the movie today and doesn't lose its power and her performance yet again got under my skin, it's just so insinuating.
I understand the criticism that this is familiar field for her but you have to take into account that she's doing it under Verhoeven's direction which is very special, it goes from devilish to black comedy and provoking us to reject her, and she never loses the rhythm. For instance there's a lot of physicality and pose ( at least, more papalpable than usual ) that she infuse to make it such a compelling presence and simply embodied that character, she's playing at least a woman who is 10 years younger than her and makes it works, she's the incarnation of the song that always plays in her parties, lust for life.
