I'd say it's a matter of time. He's one of the most in-demand actors of his age group, he's got two leading nominations already (and he's deserved a couple more nods in the bargain), and he's very well-liked in the business. First Man seems promising, especially as Chazelle has already netted acting wins for his last two films, but I feel he's gonna wind up winning for something completely against type for him.

Almost everyone wins eventually, and he's a fine actor, no reason to think he wouldn't..........

I like to think he will, and I think that's very likely.

Not sure if he's going to win, but for a relatively young actor he's built a very impressive résumé. He can do blockbusters (Blade Runner), indie movies (Lars And The Real Girl, Half Nelson), auteur art house movies (Refn, Malick and Cianfrance), high-profile political movies (The Ides of March, The Big Short), comedies (Crazy Stupid Love, The Nice Guys), musicals (La La Land), action movies (Gangster Squad).
I wish he played more villains, as I think he would do very well. Thankfully after that stint with Refn and Cianfrance he's also learned to detach himself from that sort of "shady, quiet, impenetrable guy) typecasting. He's a smart guy, he doesn't look for Oscar bait, and this will help him.

It wouldn't be surprising, but I can't say he's one of those people you know will inevitably get one. He's just got to get the right part.

Hopefully. He’s the best actor working right now.

Unless he stops acting early, I don't see how he won't.

He was born in the wrong age 4 being blond. He should won for La la land.-
I guess Matt and Ben campaigne hard for Casey.-
Will take some years, because all the minorities (except latinos), have the adventage right now.-

Oh honey, he's on my bucket list.
I hope so... because I only sleep with Oscar winners (or those in Fortune 500 - credit checks apply).

He's a very good actor and he might win someday. But I don't think it will be any time soon.

As for the topic, I don't like these kind of questions because we never know, I like to use the Laura Linney/Sandra Bullock, around 2007, who would have thought that Bullock would win an oscar before Linney, not many (Linney can still win it tho). That being said, Ryan Gosling is one of the best actor of his generation and he's also really popular so, why not. But even if he works with (young) talented directors, I think that for an actor of his stature he should have some work under bigger, more oscars-regulars directors, it should help to win the golden statue.

Yes, sometimes like it seems like an easy yes or no prediction, but you just never know who will win or never win. Of course, it hasn't happened yet, but if she does get nominated this year, I would have never predicted Jennifer Lopez to get nominated possibly even win or be runner-up after Gigli, Bennifer, and all of that stuff. She just didn't seem like she was committed to really acting anymore, but you never know. Or with your example, I really thought Laura Linney would have won by now, but she hasn't gotten any meaningful film roles in awhile. I think all she needs is that one supporting role like Allison Janney, Patricia Arquette, and maybe Laura Dern have gotten to finally win, but who knows if that will ever happen. With Gosling, I think so because he's still fairly young, and he's well respected and in demand still by top directors and writers, but you never know I guess. I don't feel like he's been majorly snubbed except for maybe Lars and the Real Girl because that was a weak year, but I think his age worked against him at that time sort of like how Timothee Chalamet couldn't make it into Best Supporting Actor this year despite showing up everywhere. He could have been nominated for First Man even if it flopped just because there was an open spot, but he never got any traction for it so not a snub. Although at the same time, I feel like if he were in the "we really love you and want to award you or at least award you soon" phase that some actors go through, he would have still got in, since he didn't I wonder if the slap the stud syndrome is happening. So maybe he's going to have to be like a Paul Newman and have to wait until he's much older to finally win.

Gosling was just alright in La La Land...I'm sure he'll have better ones down the line.

Maybe when he starts doing more than posturing and posing for the camera. There's never been any authenticity in his performances. He's always oozed being full of shit to me. Probably why I think Crazy, Stupid, Love is one of his only good performances. The Believer? Lars and the Real Girl? First Man?

I haven't seen it totally at least, any way I don't think an actor won for being the best, just for what the Academy think in a short period. And a large portion of the Academy in that year thought what Clooney, Damon and B. Affleck wanted.-
