...in which Gaspard Ulliel lusts uncontrollably after Isabelle Huppert (could anyone blame him?). Based on the novel 'Eve' by James Hadley Chase - in competition at Berlinale.

I mean...I don't speak French but the movie looks like a pretty generic psychosexual pulp thriller going by that trailer. A European Fifty Shades.

At least her 4th foray into S&M subject matter, including for this director memorably (School Of Flesh).
The original film is with Moreau from the early 60s and I've seen it, interesting film but I expect with an update by this filmmaker 50+ years later this is going to be rather an intense upgrade.

I have never read it - in fact it's kind of weird but I've actually only read a couple of his books at all and not even the most acclaimed stuff either. They were pretty good though, more plot oriented and refined versions of the American pulp writers that I am more familiar with like Thompson and Goodis. My love of all those noir types of books is basically from the original Black Lizard series - I was obsessed with them (and their cover Art) and if Black Lizard initially published it (almost always American writers initially at least), I read it obsessively.
