Just rewatched this and still incredibly liked it. Reitman had a really great stretch as a filmmaker, I hope he returns to form in the future. Clooney, Farmiga, amd Kendrick all were very good. The screenplay was probably the strongest aspect though.

It's fine I guess. I haven't seen it in a few years so I can't say anything comprehensive about it. I just know when I watched it I wasn't blown away. But Anna tho  |

I love it. I like Reitman most when he leaves the quirk at home. Earthy, complex performances balance out the intelligent but remote script perfectly. Farmiga was one of the best nominees of the decade and IMO her monologue about what she looks for in a man was the best-acted scene of the year.

It already feels a bit dated, but nevertheless, it's a very "adult" drama the likes of which are becoming rarer and rarer these days. Reitman's direction feels assured yet economical, and the main acting trio all do very good work. I also appreciate how it doesn't attempt to wrap everything up in a bow at the end.

It's an excellent films. Brilliantly acted and written, and while the film may not agree with Clooney's character's care-free lifestyle, it isn't afraid to show the very real pain that can come with making emotional connection.

A thin plot written with limited insight and depth and absent any impressive or palpable heart. Clooney and Farmiga have been far better before, and really don't do anything particularly special with the material. Kendrick is perhaps the single shining light in the piece, whose presence really provides significant improvement in terms of the enjoyment of the film and whose delivery is excellent.
So yeh, not one I find anything particularly special; no more than a 7/10. It's certainly not a bad film but it's hardly a great one.

Really good movie, with a great script and three terrific leads. I'm a huge Farmiga fan, and she absolutely earned that Oscar nom, and Kendrick was right behind her in a pleasant surprise of a performance. Clooney gave his usual good performance.
