I always wanted to see this one but every time I try to start it, the run time puts me off. 4h for the Director's Cut?! Is it worth it?

It's condescending, noble savage nonsense. But I'd say watch it anyways just so you can have an opinion about it, and the cinematography is genuinely breathtaking.

Don't watch the director's cut though. No one should subject themselves to four hours of Kevin Costner narration.

It's a magnificent, spellbinding epic. The more, the better.

This film hasn't aged well for me at all. It's nicely made though but can't watch it again.

Everything about it is a C - an average film in every respect - nothing about it is great.
Everyone says "Goodfellas should have beaten it" but I say this as some who isn't the biggest Goodfellas fan even - a lot of films should have beaten it.

It's a great film. It's got a great epic feel, excellent cinematography, superb score, some strong supporting performances. I genuinely enjoy the film everytime I watch it.

Meh. The theatrical cut was too long as it was, so I can't imagine an additional hour being helpful.

If you like that kind of thing it is very, very worth it. I could literally sit and watch that movie any time. It's one of the most engrossing movie experiences that there is for me. Is it perfect? No, not at all, but it's one of those movies that totally overcomes its flaws, kind of like a Tarantino movie but less obnoxious (It's nothing like a Tarantino movie, just to be clear). I do think the directors cut is much better, but it's not absolutely essential. Probably should just watch the theatrical one, and if you like it then give the longer version a go.
