He is completely amazing, he was never nodded until he was 81 and this is 3 times now. When people say stuff like "will Tom Hanks ever be nominated again?" gee I dunno, were you predicting 3 nominations for Plummer in his 80s?

Remember when everyone kicked up about the inequality of the Oscars.

I love Plummer and couldn't be happier for him.
I like this years line-up and doesn't scream "Hollywood PC!" They nominated people that deserve the recognition. I love that Spencer keeps pooping up. Remeber for years Whoopi was the only black woman who could say she had been nominated twice, and she did so often.

I guess she might be able to hold onto that menial fact a bit longer, until she gets nommed again, or a new second timer comes into play

Washington has no place amongst those greats. He is perfectly adequate, but none of his performances are anything special.

I'd like confirmation from Red Identity on some of this fact.

Washington has no place amongst those greats. He is perfectly adequate, but none of his performances are anything special. Actors (people who actually do the work) disagree with you. To actors, Washington is a God, even amongst other gods. It's very telling that in a few interviews I 've seen with Timothee Chalamet being asked about being nominated alongside the likes of Day-Lewis, Oldman, Washington and Hanks.....he's seemed most effusive in his idolatry of Washington. I've said it for a long time, and I have no cause to really change my mind. Washington will end his career generally regarded as the greatest actor of all time (and he's going to at least tie, if not break Nicholson's nomination record), which will be a bitter pill for some to swallow. But people might as well start getting used to that reality, because it's happening.

When people say stuff like "will Tom Hanks ever be nominated again?" gee I dunno, were you predicting 3 nominations for Plummer in his 80s? Plummer had a similar problem to Frank Langella. Plummer has always been a great actor, even as a young man. But never a great leading man. He stood out in The Sound Of Music, but I think he was sort of percieved as a poor man's Burton or O'Toole in his youth. But he's always shined in character roles like Rudyard Kipling in The Man Who Would Be King. And obviously Mike Wallace in The Insider showed that he was very likely to be one of the great "old men" character actors. I've very happy that Plummer has gotten all this acknowledgement later in life. Couldn't happen to a more deserving and exceptional actor.

It's safe to say that they're a bunch of morons.

I can't wait to see his work in All The Money in the World. btw, Denzel is a better actor than Jack Nicholson, sue me.

The fact that Plummer has managed to score 3 nominations in his 80s gives me hope that Donald Sutherland’s day could still come.
