It doesn't appear that Lady Bird is the favorite in any of the categories which it is nominated for, yet I can't see it going home empty handed on Oscar night. What category(s) do you think it has the strongest chance in winning?

It could, but I think the tide will turn in it's favor in Original Screenplay.

Very possible, but Original Screenplay can go one of three ways (I don't see Shape taking that prize), and if people bang all day on the Gerwig drum, it's possible she can win there. It's neck-and-neck (-and-neck) among her, Peele and McDonagh there.

I am baffled by Lady Bird which I liked a good bit but which I would have thought was a movie that might fade as we got closer to the big night. It just seems so slight to me.
I could see it winning screenplay though and if it does it completely screws 3 BB's chances - so it could go home empty handed or it could really win a single, pivotal prize. 3 BB's has to win screenplay to have a shot to me and I can see 4 out of the 5 nominees (all except Big Sick) winning that.

Yes. I could see Metcalf, Ronan, or the screenplay making an upset, but none of them are frontrunners at this point. I'm predicting no wins for it atm.

Unfortunately, yeah. At least Three Billboards beating it in Actress and Screenplay won’t bug me, but god’s sakes, there is no excuse Metcalf should be losing to Janney.

Hopefully it'll win at least Screenplay.

Saoirse Ronan pulling the upset is probably the one with the best odds. But it likely will lose all five.

Its definitely possible, but I'd be very happy with Ronan or Metcalf winning.

I believe IT WILL go home empty handed . Me too. Three Billboards will probably take screenplay, and Get Out probably has as good a shot at upsetting here as Lady bird does.
