Academy Award Nominee Christopher Nolan and PTA Well he was already a 3-time nominee, this was his first for Director though.

So everyone except the MVP of Phantom Thread made it in...classic. Franco missing is a bit shocking but I guess the numbers really were impacted by the scandal. Also befuddled by Washington making it in considering how dismissed and forgotten his film was. Streep is 100% invincible, full stop. Nothing can deter her. No Hammer isn't really surprising but still hurtful. It's a pitty he was replaced by old men. all over 50. No Franco, but still Streep, despite the fact of her Weinstein collaboration.- And Washington again 4 a horrible film. And Spencer again!!! I prefer KST than Mary J. Blige, but I guess, I cannot tell it.-

Villeneuve wasn't really snubbed.... there would have been an uncomfortable outrage if Gerwig missed. Yeah I get it...but still, the world is unfair. They could have replaced Peele with Villeneuve though, but that would have been another outrage

The Shape of Water- 13 Dunkirk- 8 3BBs- 7 Darkest Hour- 6 Phantom Thread- 6

If they wanted to snub Franco, they should have nominated Jeremy Renner for Wind River or Hugh Jackman for Logan

When not even Kobe Bryant can make up for the Franco and McDonagh snubs. As well as the lack of Villeneneuve, War for the Planet of the Apes, and Logan.

Just a thought: Would've been nice to see Gyllenhaal instead of Washington replace Franco.

Wow Focus Features over performed. I wasn't predicting Darkest Hour or Phantom Thread to get nominated for BP.

Washington is pretty baffling. I haven’t even seen the film so I’m not calling it a bad thing, but Washington was in a movie that not only tanked at the box office, but got mixed reviews. It only has 2000 ratings on IMDb right now. If only the Academy could’ve recognized the lead performance in a Dan Gilroy film a few years earlier...

And all the voters who showed up for Blige, where the hell were you when Idris Elba was shafted for Beasts?

Justice for scrudpup I guess, but I think Denzel is just that respected by his fellow actors. Anytime he has a "prestige" film out, you have to take him seriously.
