Oh gosh. I forgot how amazing Frances McDormand is as an actress, but after I saw 'Three Billboards...' I was hungry for more so I knew it was time to watch 'Olive Kitteridge' and boy, it didn't disappoint. Love me some McDormand and Jenkins power. What did you guys think? And can you give me some suggestions for other McDormand roles?

She has two performances that tower over her career Fargo and Olive Kitteridge and now 3 Billboards has joined them. I will always love her in Blood Simple but she's one of those actresses who, while there hasn't been that much for her, you know she could have been great in a lot of stuff. I mean, 5 nods, a Tony winner, an Emmy winner, possibly a double Oscar winner and she didn't get that good of roles really.
She's an amazing talent and an inspiration too I'd say.

I actually really hate the miniseries, but McDormand definitely is a force of nature in it. It's a wholly unlikable bit of work for me, though.

Amazing miniseries, and Fran probably gives the best performance of the decade in any medium.

It's incredibly blunt, heavy-handed, and I find every single character intolerably unpleasant. It's very much the sort of film/story that if you aren't on its wavelength, you aren't going to remotely like it.

Miss Pettigrew Lives for a Day is great fun.
I also love Fran in Burn After Reading and Friends with Money.

She is absolutely hilarious when she has a good comedic role. I know she won her first Oscar and probably her second using dark humor in her characters but I would love to see her in a very stupid flat-out comedy.

I'm not sure she'd do something like that unless her husband wrote it. She's always struck me as being too smart and too non bullshit. She reminds me a lot of Judy Davis. Great actresses who deeply care about the quality of their performance and aren't interested in celebrity or the fame game. I'm so glad that Fran is finally getting the recognition that she deserves.

I was excited for this back but never watched it, because it did look quite... heavy handed and dire, but after Three Billboards I'm desperate in need for more Fran fix and this looks perfect.
