Mad Max: Fury Road, with The Proposition and Gallipoli running a tight race behind it.

You can't beat Peter Weir's best work: Gallipoli, The Plumber, Picnic....
H/M Wake in Fright, and more recently The Babadook, Mary and Max...

I don't know if it's my favorite of all, but I'll go with The Babadook.

You can't beat Peter Weir's best work: Gallipoli, The Plumber, Picnic.... H/M Wake in Fright, and more recently The Babadook, Mary and Max... Do you like The Last Wave with Richard Chamberlain? I do! Mostly! Effectively moody apocalyptic-horror. Superb use of score/diegetic sound to create tension. And all that rain -- those umbrellas! But I think the film struggles with the Aborigines; their scenes are really dull, rudimentary, expository. (Pauline Kael says the dialogue feels as if from 1940s B Movies and how the Aborigines are vital to the film but that they're stereotyped.) If I recall as well, there's a chase scene around the end that really drags. But I think there's some flat out fantastic scenes that are even worth studying in terms of tone and soundscape.

Strictly Ballroom! But I'm also very partial to My Brilliant Career, Gallipoli and most recently Holding the Man.

Yeah it has to be Mad Max: Fury Road. On a side note, it's kinda disappointing that a film from my home country isn't even in my Top 50 of all time.

Probably Animal Kingdom, not an expert, though.

If I'm gonna vote, I'm gonna vote historic on the Fury Road.
But to go with something aside from the obvious, how about, oh... Rabbit-Proof Fence. I've always had a soft spot for that. Although Fury Road is the only Australian film that I would put anywhere near anything resembling a favorites list of mine.

Technically it’s Moulin Rouge! but if we are talking a real Australian film, than Muriel’s Wedding or your choice.
