I haven't seen a lot of the performances are having buzz but defintely Mary J. Blige, it feels like one of those roles designed to win awards but the character is paper-thin. And Daniel Kaluuya, not that he's bad, but not very creative, there's no other way he could play that part.

Mary J. Blige from what I've seen.

I don't dislike any of these, but they're all overrated to varying degrees imo: Spencer Harrelson Ronan Jenkins Stuhlbarg

McDormand. She had one great scene (with the deer) and the rest ranged from passable to contrived edgy awkwardness.
Hawkins and Ronan were both better.

Based on Oscar nominations: Mary J. Blige in Mudbound

Allison Janney
I'm a fan of hers in general but I have not felt this disappointed in a long time. I suppose I could understand why some moments were considered amusing to some people but its just so disheartening that this is the type of performance that wins awards.

Chalamet and Hammer are fine but have no chemistry together.

Daniel Kaluuya, he was good in Get Out, but not really a top 5 performance. I understand his Golden Globe nomination because the Golden Globes splits the lead actors into 2 categories.

Yep, one of these threads again. I have quite enjoyed a lot of performances this year but for me as good as they were: Timothee Chalamet: Very good no doubt, but found him too underplayed until the last 45 minutes of the film, where he is great but unfortunately I didn't feel anything because I didn't buy the chemistry with Hammer, because everything just felt at arms length. I don't think it's going to be some crime against humanity if Oldman beats him like his stans are making it out to be. All of this. No chemistry at all.

I'm a big fan of him but Michael Stuhlbarg in Call Me by Your Name. Other than his last scene there's literally nothing noteworthy about his performance imo.

This will be an unpopular opinion but Get Out and Daniel Kaluuya. I just don't see why people are falling over themselves to award this movie and performance. Was it a good film and performance? Absolutely! Anything close to worthy of Best Picture or Best Actor? No chance in hell. Get Out's screenplay nomination is the only worthy nomination IMO.

and obviously I disagree with the Chalamet/CMBYN mentions.
