No, I am not on crack. But it's obvious you will defend Franco regardless. The Academy will know the nominations before they are made public. But hopefully, they won't have to do anything, since the accusations broke at the peak of the voting period and he won't even be nominated. WOW! So you're willing to assume guilt with ZERO fucking evidence to back it up & some very conflicting & muddled accusations?? And what evidence do you have that he ain't guilty - because you were fawning how great he has handled the accusations, etc. I'm sure fans of Weinstein, Spacey, etc. thought they could not do anything wrong.

I'm thinking now maybe Hanks ends up replacing Franco.

I think Franco is staying. DDL as well: enough people will watch Phantom Thread because he's in it. Kaluuya is in a strong Best Picture contender and he's hit all the precursors.
Besides that, I agree with whomever said that acting nominations are starting to be completely unexciting.

I think Franco is staying. Same. I don't think what has recently transpired will affect his chances at an Oscar nod. Nominations voting closes today. Most ballots were probably in just before the deadline. Since Franco was most certainly a lock for a nod until this week (he won the GG on Sunday, Critics' Choice last night, and is also nominated for a SAG), if his name isn't announced as a Best Actor nominee on 1/23, I'm going to call bullshit on the whole thing!

Oldman Chalamet Kaluuya DDL
and then I see Denzel getting a lazy filler nod for the last spot (shout out to scrudpup). I had a hard time seeing Franco getting nommed regardless of the controversy, but now I think it'll effect him just enough to let a veteran slip ahead of him. Denzel has a SAG nom for a bomb, so I think there's a lot of lazy people who vote for him regardless when he's in a "prestige" pic.
I think voters take Hanks for granted and he won't get nominated til he does something really out of the box.

1. Oldman 2. Chalamet 3. Kaluuya 4. DDL 5. Franco
I still think James gets in. Kinda doubt this last-minute scandal will slow his momentum enough to exclude him from the lineup.

Now I'd say : oldman chalamet DDL hanks kaluuya I'm going with the same. Hanks was typical Hanks though. He's fine but hardly awards worthy. I can see Denzel sneaking in instead.

1. Oldman 2. Chalamet 3. DDL 4. Kaluuya 5. Franco Alt: Hanks.
In that order. The allegations might have hurt Franco, but I think it's a bit too late for AMPAS to "unvote" his nom.

If hostiles had released earlier wonder if Bale would be in conversation. Doubtful. Reviews are good, but his performances hasn't gotten glowing reception.
