My Left Foot and Beasts of the Southern Wild are unimpeachable masterpieces. The former is one of my favorite biopics of all time and features my #2 of all time in Best Actor and #3 of all time in Best Supporting Actress. The latter is a revelation from a visionary wunderkind (who sadly hasn't capitalized on his vision with a follow-up) featuring one of the greatest (if not the greatest) child performances in cinema history. I truly cannot recommend them enough.
I adore Live by Night and it even takes my Best Director win last year. Truly baffling to me how it didn't do well with critics and audiences.
Rush is stylish but kinda hollow.
Blade's okay. I much prefer Del Toro's sequel.
Elephant is one of my least favorite films of the 2000s.

Elephant (2003) - one of the best films of the 2000's
My Left Foot (1989) - standard biopic fare but it has a good enough gimmick to keep you emotionally invested/manipulated but The Diving Bell and the Butterfly does everything a lot better and less conventionally
Rush (2013) - typical vapid garbage biopic people like for dumb reasons

Elephant, One of my favourites of the year, no evil to be found and such a relaxed atmosphere.
Live By Night, never saw it, I'm sure I'll watch it in the future, I jut need to be in the mood for a film noir directed in 2016.
My Left Foot, the film does many things right for what could be your average biopic but the one I appreciate the most is that never portraits the main character as a martyr or a hero, of course Day-Lewis is great but O'Connor is also very good and I personally think that Fiona Shaw is miles better than Brenda Fricker, who is so forgettable.
Rush, like any other Ron Howard film, is entertaing to watch but once the moive ends it's like sand in my hands
Beasts of the Southern Wild, I like how it looks but didn't care at all for the story nor the characters and the praise the the performances is baffling to me, one is flat, the other very hammy.
Blade N/S

Elephant: One of the masterpieces of the last decade. Live By Night: I hated it, I could barely stay awake. My Left Foot: One of the greatest performances of all time, in an unforgettable movie. Rush: I had a better opinion after my first viewing, but it's entertaining. Beasts of the Southern Wild: Magic. Blade: NS

I liked Elephant until we got to the killers... cause you see, not only are these teens bullied and lonely but oh look how they're into VIOLENT Video games, and Piano, and Painting, and are sexually inexperienced if not confused. Such typical villainy-writing in a film that otherwise feels refreshing.

Elephant: I'm not a big fan of Van Sant, but damn, I love this one. It's hauntingly good. My Left Foot is one of my favorite biopics, and you'll get a suberb DDL. Beasts of the Southern Wild is also quite good. I haven't seen the other three.
