Very impressed with this one (esp the performances from Bale & Pike). Some real powerful moments in this . Scott Cooper is now 4/4 with me and I think he is a damn good director that gets a lot of his actors/actresses .
My only minor complaint would be the Native American characters weren't as fleshed out as I wanted them to be (No biggies though).
Overall, I highly recommend seeing this when you can!
8.5/10

Scott Cooper is one of the best actors' directors in the business (kinda like Jean- Marc Vallée). He only needs to improve his writing and directing skills.
Bale in Out of the Furnace or in Hostiles?

Hmm leaning towards Hostiles (he has a lot of great moments in this one) Plus, he speaks in a Native American language throughout it quite well which impressed me . Although , that scene where he breaks down in Out of the Furance (with Zoe Saldana) was insanely good too. I do totally agree with ya that Cooper is aces at getting everything out of his actors.

Where do you put Bale among the Oscar front runners?

Keeping that in mind, how was Wes Studi? Pretty damn good considering he doesn't get a lot to work with. Very touching performance though.

Where do you put Bale among the Oscar front runners? Not sure tbh . Still haven't seen Darkest Hour or Phantom Thread
