Holy shit (thanks to S&S for listing this in their top list). Now I have a reason to plunge through Martel's entire filmography (well, or at least the 2 features that I have at hand).

Certainly is a very well put together trailer. Martel is one of those directors that has a special cult of fans and highly anticipate her each and every one of her films, I remember being aware of her almost ten years ago but never got around to her filmography until a couple of years ago, is one of those cases where the more you watch, the more you would appreciate what she does, her style is unique and like nothing I've seen.
I've seen three of her films, La Cienega reminds me a lot of Buñuel in the humour and themes, The Headless Woman which literally puts you in the same catatonic state of mind of the main character and how she navigates through life taking in mind what happened to her and Zama which does similar things but the situations couldn't be more different. She makes every singl element count, the sounds, the framing ( which much of the time is really odd ), the colors and even some bizarre details that can have a meaning, although at times comes off as inside jokes, for example if you see in the trailer there's a moment a llama randomly appears behind the main character, the only meaning I find for it is a reference to a meme ( idk if it's known in the whole world but...) that adresses idleness, and imo all of those elements come together in a more effective way in Headless Woman, put right into the experience, it's obviously a very independent film but the use of every element makes it intensly cinematic, it might sound weird but I'd put it as a companion piece to movies like The Revenant or Dunkirk where the directors are more interested in the experience you will have watching the movie but The Headless Woman closes the circle because it has a screenplay ( ha! ) and complements with what's happening on screen. Definitely a unique voice, watch it whenever you can.
