I’m glad she’s doing better so I hope she can build her way back up to a somewhat decent career. Wish I could say the same for Lohan.

The problem with the Bynes' and the Lohans (and the like) is that they were told at a very young age that they'd be the next big superstar (Bynes was being heralded as the next SNL megastar from the age of like 9... and Lohan, well Lohan was being lauded as the next Meryl Streep for some reason) and with that their talents never actually got better as they matured.
Take that and their off camera shenanigans and you get where they are today.
I wish them nothing but the best, but I'm not exactly expecting either to come back anytime soon.

Did people actually compare Lohan to Meryl Streep? People assumed she would be a major mainstream movie star as an adult but I didn't think anyone thought she would be a "great actress".

I'm glad she's doing better, but I for one could never appreciate her movies.

Maybe I overstepped with the Streep comparison, but someone correct me if I'm wrong, though I absolutely remember people/critics hailing her as the next big talent (not just star).

I think Anne Hathaway essentially have the career Lohan could've also gotten into her adulthood too. Part of that reason for her, sadly, was because her parents are leeches.

I hope she's doing better now. After everything she's gone through, I can't help but root for her.

I'm glad things seem to be turning around for her because she had really hit a low and seemed so mentally disturbed. It was sad to watch. I don't know if I see her ever being a leading lady, but I think she can do well in comedic supporting parts- not unlike the one she played in Easy A.

Her celebrity has been dead for what? 15 years? I mean, she's not even a media attraction like Lohan (though that's a good thing, really). Her breakdown was the biggest thing for her in 10 years, and her most recent role (7 years ago) saw her go relatively unrecognized (literally).
If she still has good comic timing and a knack for zany characters, she should host SNL and get some good PR for her acting and comedy, then do some supporting role on a comedy show, maybe in some films, but I don't see her being a leading lady kind of actress - at least not in anything from a big studio with a big budget. Maybe she could land a role in a Woody Allen movie, but those don't seem to get much attention for the most part these days.
It would be nice if she could salvage a modest career (she's only 32 ish), but I don't feel like she's really missed anymore and the majority of TV watchers/movie goers would need a strong reminder of who she is, or be introduced to her for the first time. Which might work in her favor.
