Rank the top ten Best Picture contenders. I'll say...
1. Get Out 2. Lady Bird 3. The Post 4. Three Billboards 5. Dunkirk 6. The Shape of Water 7. Call Me By Your Name 8. The Florida Project 9. The Darkest Hour 10. Mudbound
The first seven can almost be listed in just about any order right now. I think if there are 9 nominees The Florida Project and Darkest Hour make sense to me. The last spot could go one of many ways. (Mudbound, Phantom Thread, The Big Sick, I, Tonya, All The Money in the World) but I went with Mudbound because... just because.

1. Three Billboards Outside Ebbing, Missouri 2. The Post 3. Get Out 4. Lady Bird 5. The Shape of Water 6. Dunkirk 7. Call Me by Your Name 8. The Florida Project 9. Darkest Hour 10. Mudbound 11. Phantom Thread
Top 4 are basically interchangeable. Next two are comfortably in. Call Me by Your Name could go the way of Carol, but right now I say it makes it. The Florida Project is the first one that can fall on either side. Darkest Hour is exactly the kind of thing the Academy responds well to, and it's probably winning Best Actor, so it's in the running. Mudbound will be hurt by being a Netflix joint, but it could inspire enough passion to break that ceiling. The SAG Ensemble nod is a good sign. And Phantom Thread could reasonably pull a Tree of Life/Amour/Beasts of the Southern Wild and benefit from the 5% system, so I'm not ruling it out entirely even if it's far from a certainty.

And up next: 11. All the Money in the World 12. Mudbound 13. I, Tonya 14. The Big Sick
Not totally confident with these, though the top seven all feel pretty safe as nominees at this point. Regardless, I love that the race remains this broad well into December.

First four are pretty much locked in for BP and BD nods, IMO. CBMYN and Get Out are fighting for that #5 spot, but both should make it into the BP catalogue. Dunkirk was/is too big not to happen, but it's no threat for the win, I feel like the passion for it is slowly fading away to others' favor. Darkest Hour is exactly the kind of class british period picture that never misses. Phantom Thread could benefit from the passion that its fans have.
