I'll miss that Jay-Whatever guy. The best BF Merc ever had in my lifetime TBH. I'm pretty sure @jaytieagain is Jay-Whatever Indeed It was fun trolling and outraging him, but he was certifiably insane! It was just a losing battle that got boring after awhile He finally found my twitter account after accusing a handful of users of being me

And one thing you won't miss. I'll miss specific boards for certain movies. I won't miss specific trolls and morons. Those things and how I'll probably miss the variety of emoticons/emoji. There doesn't seem to be much of a variety from the smiles here. Yeah, some choices are the same from the emoticons on IMDb message board. Unless emoticons from outside resources are also allowed on these forums...

I asked people to post which emoticons they wanted (one of the first things I did here) from imdb and imported some of those. Now the board is shut down so I'm not sure what to do about that. But as I said everyone can add their own.

My top 100, which I forgot to pull from my profile before the cutoff. Certain posters who will never find this forum i.e. shep, Lily19, Betsy, etc.
Won't miss the trolls or pointless arguments. That drove me off the board the last couple years. I really hope the closing is a cue to certain people to go outside and do something else with their time.

It would be nice to think that the board closing would be a cue to some folks to get more of a life, but I'm sure they'll find somewhere else to be ridiculous. Fingers crossed that can at least be avoided here.

I'll miss the individual movie boards. I would usually go and read through a lot of the posts on a board a film I loved, or even the ones I hated.
I won't miss the pathetic internet tough guy posturing and the trollish and stupidly offensive behaviour that had become the norm, even on Movie Awards, where we had managed to avoid it (for the most part) for a wonderfully long time.

Is anyone else seeing all those 'good, there were only trolls there' reactions? Those awful generalizations are so close minded :/ It's pissing me off how people who didn't even use imdb have the audacity to say this shit

I miss all the PMs, all the conversations I had with my friends, Dave-Smart_Monkey's banter and Ginger87.
I won't miss Naeemak and Joby the Dimwit's idiotic rants.

Same. Always loved reading his thoughts, even when I disagreed with him, which was rare because he was usually very persuasive haha. If I saw that he had posted in a thread that interested me, I would literally drop what I was doing at the moment to read it. Great writer, great taste, and a bottomless well of film-related knowledge. I found his taste in music kind of narrow, but anytime he recommended a film, I would immediately put it on my queue. Invaluable poster, truly going to miss the guy. I never got to hear his thoughts on Interstellar and that was the only Nolan film he hadn't seen yet... His taste in music is GOAT level Not saying that the music he liked was bad on its own (on the contrary, he actually turned me on to some bands), just that I found his reasoning for disliking certain music kind of odd. He had a very specific, personal definition of what rock n' roll was, and that's fine for him I guess, but kind of limiting.

I'll definitely miss the individual movie boards. For a long time, IMDb was the only place where you could discuss any films, and not have to make a post in the main forum. It was quite great. I'm also gonna miss Oscar discussions specifically on IMDb.
As for things I won't miss. Definitely more of the loser trolls like Naaemak, since moderation is going to be so much better on this board then it was on IMDb.

But as I said everyone can add their own. IMDb used some of the older emoticons from www.planetsmilies.com for their message board. I recall how the site had that in their message board description long before the introduction of the emoji. I like the idea how any one can use in personal smileys for these boards. I personally already know of a website or two, other than the one I just linked, where I could go for them.

I will miss my friend Dakoko. I think she'd had some bad experiences on Imdb and was going to quit boards in general.

I'll miss the individual movie boards, particularly the trivia sections. I won't miss the fucked up, pompous twats who felt the need to throw snark and shade at everything. So exhausting. The trivia section did not go away.

I'll miss the boards that every film had. I'll miss the old board, since it essentially was a home, a shelter, on the internet for over 2 years.
I won't miss Naeemak or some of the trolls.

I won't miss Naeemak and Joby the Dimwit's idiotic rants. Joby will still find his way around, unfortunately. According to his latest youtube channel description in the end, I already see that he wasn't too hesitant of having his own accounts with IMDb v2.0, Ex-IMDb Forum, and MovieForums. Who knows how long those are going last with him? As for Naeemak.... I hear that a certain user is already running amok on IMDb v2. "Unconventional" content and all. 😒

Film, TV, director, actor, etc. specific boards where you could discuss and theorize. It will take a long while to break the habit of going to a film's page and wanting to see other people's interpretations of endings, etc. I love reading other people's perspectives on things.

Exactly this! A habit I've had for over a decade, as soon as I finished a movie or when I was feeling curious about a specific actor, director, etc, I would check the boards. I need more than simple information, I loved seeing what people thought of them and the movie subforums had some of the most insightful posts I've ever encountered. I'm gonna miss that a lot and it's gonna be tough to get over the habit at first, I'm sure.
