I thought Sight and Sound was supposed to be one of the better ones but they still have Get Out at #1? Or am I thinking of something else?

Moonlight was actually #2 on their 2016 poll (Toni Erdmann was #1). Not sure why Moonlight is appearing again in 2017, I assume it has to do with the timing of when films are released in some countries. Same thing with Personal Shopper.

I love it when they include Twin Peaks in best films lists. The Cahiers du Cinéma list is something else

Pretty unremarkable tbh, gives me the impression they vote for this and this and this with a check list by side.
Get Out at number 1 reflects the zeitgeist more than anything else, lol at Twin Peaks being here, it's called "Sight & Sound's Best Films of 2017", but it could've been worst because there's even who voted for Mindhunter. They need to have a better organization for what qualifies and release dates, many films repeat the list, they're supposed to be inside people who go to festivals and see everything they can, otherwise movies like Zama and Western wouldn't be here at all, I can understand it for late releases like The Post/Phantom Thread but otherwise is weird, feels like they vote twice for the movie in question.
For the last couple of years they update the list around march/april, I'll wait for that one as the definitive one, last year had major changes if I recall.
Cahiers went for Billy Lynn, now I want to see it, maybe is the underseen/missunderstood gem that nobody knows about
