'Cause I literally haven't been able to see a single one. IMDb was always my main source for finding these things. Gimme some recs, I need to make a list.

Only seen one, Endless Poetry by Alejandro Jodorowsky- very strongly recommended. I have a few on my watchlist that look very interesting, though: Happy End, Loveless, The Square, BPM (Beats Per Minute), On the Beach at Night Alone, Blade of the Immortal, Let the Sun Shine In, and On Body and Soul.

On The Beach At Night Alone is quite a disappointment. Kim Min-hee is remarkable, but the film is so heavily insistent that you be aware of the prior knowledge and surrounding context of Kim Min-hee and Hong Sang-soo's IRL relationship in order to enjoy it. It's like a look into someone’s self-justifications rather than an actual introspection of a relationship. I still want to check out The Day After and Claire's Camera, though.

Pretty freakin' stoopid way to excuse lazy narrative contrivances tbh

What's your take on people's defense of Raw; stating that the intent is to tell an over-the-top coming-of-age story about sexual awakening which masks its stupidities? well, it is a coming of age story and there are metaphors for social issues... but the thing is its OTT extremities are not there to complement these metaphors, but rather the metaphors come across as more an insecure rationalization for presenting extremities. That is not to say I don't ever dig extremity for extremity's sake, extremity has its place and can make its own aesthetic. Extremities aren't even inherently necessary when they complement actual political themes in some movies I love but surely can enhance it. The problem for me is when extremities are disgustingly used as a defense against criticism "what you thought this was just edgy crap? No look! There is deeper meaning! See!" The metaphors themselves are idiotic as well. It's so superficial. The film never establishes its own rules and how much OTT fantasy it is and how much it is grounded in reality. I lost it at the car crash scene...

Loveless is on the top of my list so far, I really enjoyed it. I wasn't as impressed with The Square. I still need to see Happy End, Foxtrot, A Fantastic Woman, Zama, BPM, and In the Fade.

The top 5 for me (so far) are:
1. The Last Note 2. Bad Genius 3. Loveless 4. The Villainess 5. Shock Wave
As other users have stated Antiporno is also great, but it's listed on IMDB and other film sites as a 2016 film, so I didn't include it.

Contrary to last year, I don't have many foreign films among my favourites of the year.
The Square is probably the one you should see, same for BPM, I've said why I liked them both in different posts. Other ones that I don't think anyone has mentioned: The Day After which so far is the Hong Sang-soo movie I like the most, he does one thing right (switch perspective to the male character instead of the female ) and makes a big difference, Bright Sunshine In, a very french "comedy" that has the Claire Denis touch all over it, she basically dissects the genre, the end credits alone deserves the watch, and Zama I suppose but it didn't cause a spell on me the way Headless Woman did.

I haven't seen much, but A Fantastic Woman is very aptly titled. Thelma's good too.

Haven't seen many this year. Loveless is probably the best though.
