Yes Timothée! Right now, he's the person I'm most rooting for to succeed this Awards season.

Chalamet takes Best Actor. Franco runner-up. It's looking like Chalamet is going to win the trifecta now. Yep. He's looking like much more of a threat than we thought. He's definitely topped Day-Lewis as the second biggest contender in that race (one could even argue Franco is third) and may give Oldman a run for his money.

who's gonna win best director??? Hard to gauge this and Best Film as they've really spread the love so far. My money's on Nolan, del Toro, or Gerwig.

Best Actress: Sally Hawkins, The Shape of Water - Winner Frances McDormand, Three Billboards Outside Ebbing, Missouri - Runner-up
This was a huge get for Hawkins. She needed it. I don't know if she's "safe" yet though, but this wasn't the best day for Robbie. Although she still has her newbie status. McDormand hasn't won anything big yet either, but she's a previous winner, and Three Billboards Outside Ebbing, Missouri should do good with the acting branch.

Happy to see The Florida Project get that kind of love. Really hope it keeps sticking around as a serious contender.

So happy that these are over. There's definitely something more constructive I could have done for the past 5 hours!!! Why am I such a procrastinator?!? Congratulations to all the winners! Up: Call Me By Your Name, The Shape of Water, Timothée Chalamet, Willem Dafoe, Sally Hawkins, Laurie Metcalf Even: Dunkirk, Lady Bird, Phantom Thread, The Post - I thought maybe there would be love or more love for these films, but they're still doing fine. Down: I, Tonya, Tiffany Haddish, Allison Janney, Frances McDormand, Margot Robbie, Sam Rockwell, Michael Stuhlbarg - They didn't need to win, but it would have been nice for them. Even Worse: Downsizing, Hong Chau - If LAFCA ignored the film and Chau's performance despite usually being fans of Payne's work, I think it's done. ETA: There's still one more award. FML.

Greta Gerwig wins the New Generation Award.
That's not why I posted again though. I just read no Best Picture winner has gone without winning something at NYFCC or LAFCA since Crash, so that's not great for The Post or Three Billboards Outside Ebbing, Missouri. I still think that they both can win Best Picture though.

I would assume that most of the critics did because I saw some of them tweeting about it last week when people were finally allowed to at least tweet about it. Maybe not enough of them did. Or it's probably not one for critics like Call Me By Your Name or Lady Bird, but I always expected the guilds to be where the film would do great.

Cinematography category will be a bloodbath this year!!! Deakin's chance is getting smaller : Unless people are retarded, Deakins will take this. Dunkirk would be a worthy winner though Yeah, I'm not feeling it. The movie is pretty, but for as much as I love Deakins, I'm just not seeing it. It's almost Netflix pretty - just technically well done, is all. If anything, it looks too sterile for what it's supposed to be. It's overly flashy. On Dunkirk's side. Haven't seen anything else yet really.

I never thought a serious movie about brain transplants would win an award for screenplay.
