The kid in Shane. Seriously, the worst. THE WORST.

The abrupt ending of Marty. It's like a "whoops, we're out of time" ending you'd see in a TV episode. Stops it from being a 10/10 for me.

Yeah, Moore in Magnolia is a big one. Although, the last time I watched Magnolia, I didn't hate her performance nearly as much as I used to but I still think it's a terrible performance. I've gotten a lot of hate for this previously, but I think the end to No Country for Old Men brings down the movie a whole point for me. I get what it was saying, but it's just so unsatisfying. The Dark Knight Rises and it's multiple plot holes. Agree on NCFOM. A lot of people act like the only alternative was having a silly fight scene between Jones and Bardem, but the issue is just that the ending is so abrupt, not that it isn't a thriller ending.

Too lazy to think of my own right now but I agree with what Pavan said about The Dark Knight Rises and what a couple of people said about Psycho.

The Devil's Advocate, Cast anyone other than Keanu Reeves as Kevin Lomax. He also had something really irritating about his voice.

Manchester by the Sea: that soundtrack....... I really don’t like Manchester by the Sea, but I don’t know even its avowed fans can stomach that godawful Kenneth Lonergan cameo.

People who bring up the ending of No Country for Old Men in these threads make me worry about mankind.
Would agree that the score in Manchester by the Sea doesn’t 100% work.

much of my picks have been listed here already, i'll just add Paris, Texas's score here too. the movie has slowly grown on me over time, but i just can't get around that score, no matter how much i try.

Lots of Spielberg films don't resolve themselves well - Schindler's List loses power even for me.
The character of Midge is f'n annoying beyond belief in Vertigo and not even in a realistic annoying way which would be fine

"Empire of the Sun" is a fucking incredible movie but I remember the Japanese kid who played Jim's friend giving a pretty bad performance, especially his death scene .

It's not unforgivably awful - and might have worked well when it was released in early 30s - but I wish M had not have ended with that last " warning " to the audience. Lang was obviously concerned about the subject matter, but it pulls me out of the film very fast. Good thing it's the closing shot lol

The Departed - Billy is following Sullivan while receiving texts. The phone is on vibrate. During the ally chase, he receives another text - this time it rings and alerts Sullivan. I get what they were going for, but they could have done it in a different way to avoid the continuity error. The Hateful Eight - It sets itself up as a "who done it" mystery but becomes completely obvious upon the reveal. The guys that were in the cabin first are in it together

The abrupt ending of Marty. It's like a "whoops, we're out of time" ending you'd see in a TV episode. Stops it from being a 10/10 for me. Aw, I've always loved that ending. A few off the top of my head: The Hateful Eight wasted potential for a more suspenseful scene by not introducing Tatum sooner. I feel like the scene where Warren is playing Poirot and piecing it all together would have been twice as intense if the "Four Passengers" chapter had come before it, with us knowing Tatum is under the floor and anticipating when he will pounce as the scene builds. That we find out when the rest of the characters do is quite anti-climatic.
The tape Mr. Clean's mom sends him in Apocalypse Now. I feel like it's a very powerful moment amidst the setting that, despite how far away he is from home, Clean likely died hearing the sound of his mother's voice. Having the tape playing through the whole attack scene is so tragic on its own. Then as Chief is crying over his body, you have his mother saying stuff like "You're gonna be a husband and a father and you're gonna come home" and all that, and it really beats you over the head with the tragedy of it, when her saying pretty much anything else gets the point across enough.
"Cheer Up, Charlie" in Willy Wonka and the Chocolate Factory.

Lol tbh, i didn't mind it or notice it. The moment was so brief and minimal in comparison to everything else that was happening in that scene, his cameo would be on the bottom of the list of any issues I had. The music on the other hand, i can't deny was super distracting, especially in the first half.

Casablanca's ending but that's a really huge one for me. I love the rest of the movie but the ending is despicable war propaganda and it doesn't even make sense (really, I despise the entire mentality which the ending emits, that's whats wrong with our society). Pretty much the only reason Casablanca is not a favorite but instead barely a top 500 contender. Oh and to be clear: I'm fine with Rick and the sherrif walking off at the end, it's the scene before.
I don't think I've ever had something remotely as deal-breaking.

THE SHINING : Shelley Duvall !!! I really wanted Jack to bash her brains in (she was amazing in 3 WOMEN , though) I don't know what people have. I like her performance. In fact I think the entire ensemble does a terrific job.

^^Triumph of the Will omg
The ending of The Breakfast Club
All of the content of the original Birth of a Nation. The form of the film was unfortunately revolutionary, despite the movie itself being absolutely despicable. The formal innovations improved the way films were made forever, but much more important is that the disturbing racist content regressed American society and ultimately ended lives.
