When in the heck are they announcing this? It's mid november pretty much. I'm really hoping for Gervais, but don't think he'll come back this year.

Wiki says that Jimmy Fallon is the host for the next two years. I don't really think the Globes need one. I liked Ricky Gervais at first, but then he reminded me of Billy Crystal in that I used to think that Crystal was a great Oscar host until he kept doing it so much that his shtick wasn't funny anymore. Similar to Tina Fey and Amy Poehler, I liked them at first, but I thought they were weaker the next year. Don't even get me started on Jimmy Fallon. I guess we're stuck with him though unless he backs out. One of the things I like about the Globes is that they don't have a never ending amount of awards like the Emmys or Grammys, and they're usually pretty good about filler unlike the Oscars, and while I usually like the opening monologues of the Golden Globe hosts, it feels like the rest of the ceremony, they're just filler. (I sort of feel the same way about Oscar hosts too, but the Oscar telecast is always bloated, and the host doing skits after the opening monologue is just part of that. Although sometimes they have had some good bits.)

I'm definitely not looking forward to being treated to two more years of Fallon's painfully dull, nails-on-a-chalkboard ass kissing (or better yet, two years of doing something else while he's on screen in between award categories), but it's not like Gervais was all that better. He was amusing at first, but that 2015 ceremony was embarrassing in how little effort he made. He shows up with that smug Cheshire cat grin on his face, looks down at the audience satisfied with how ~scared~ everyone is of how *edgy* and *real* he is, and then proceeds to say nothing of actual insight or bite. He'll find the lowest hanging fruit and go for it even though he's everything he pretends to be pointing his fingers at. He does land a few good jokes here and there, but his momentum constantly falters because he stretches many of them for far too long. He can barely cover any ground before his 10 minutes are up. Give me Fey and Poehler any day over either of these two. Not all of their stuff hits, but most of it does, and they move on quickly enough when it doesn't.

Maybe there won't be a host as in the past.. I think a host at the Globes is pointless if you got great presenters.

I'm not particularly familiar with this Meyers fellow, but good luck to him.
