And I don't mean: had the bigger names, better cast. I mean the actors recast suit the roles better than the originators.
I always felt like the first two Addams Family movies couldn't have been cast better in any decade then they were. That cast was iconic even if overall the show was obviously more iconic than the films.

Fincher's The Girl With the Dragon Tattoo is superior to the amateurish Swedish version imo

Tombstone...... though not an exact re-make, when you compare it to the previous OK Corral movies, Russell and Kilmer are just beyond perfect as Earp and Holliday.

I'm a big fan of Scorsese's Cape Fear, and one of it's biggest defenders...... but how on earth is it better cast than the original? Peck is literally the definition of upstanding family man, and Mitchum can play dangerous imposing creep like no other man in the history of cinema.
