This might be fun. I learned three years ago (20yo) that the restaurant Perkins wasn't called Jerkins, I always thought it was a J, but nobody corrected me up until then. Everybody must thought I was making a joke when I called it Jerkins. I thought everybody else was wrong, but being the non-confrontational sort; I always let it be. I mean comeon that looks like a J Have you guys run into this problem?

Jerkins, lol, classic.
I was about 20 when I found out Gore Vidal was a pretty famous writer and not a guy who designed fancy hair products. I was like pretty well read too but always mixed him up with Vidal Sassoon - and I did that mix up during literary discussions and people would shake their heads and think I was going for a weird joke I guess.....

For those who aren't familiar with Chile team, this is Arturo Vidal.

I used to think the timer you set on the microwave was the amount of charge it used to send into your food when it beeped.
And when I found out that's not how it worked... man, 27 was a rough year.

The dots in a division symbol (÷) are symbolic of blank numerator/denominator slots. It never occurred to me.

I was far older than I'd care to admit when I finally saw the C in the Carrefour logo. Have no idea how I managed to miss it this whole time.

Great idea for a thread. I seem to have a lot these kind of moments, so I'm glad I'm not the only one. The dots in a division symbol (÷) are symbolic of blank numerator/denominator slots. It never occurred to me. This never occurred to me either. Maybe it's the US public school system because I'm pretty sure that none of my math teachers told my classes that. Similar to yours, I went a ridiculously long time thinking this was Barg's. What!?! I always thought it was Barg's. I know it's pronounced like Bark's, but I still thought it was a "g". I was far older than I'd care to admit when I finally saw the C in the Carrefour logo. Have no idea how I managed to miss it this whole time. Oh this is like one of those optical illusions. It took me awhile to see it, but now I can't unsee it. (OT: Am I the only here that can't see those 3-D pictures that use to be all the rage back in the '90s?) Similar to yours, I went a ridiculously long time thinking this was Barg's. Wait, it's not Barg's?
Must be a Mandela Effect.
It was only a few years ago that I found out that it wasn't The Berenstein Bears, but The Berenstain Bears. It was only a couple of weeks ago that I found out that the Monopoly Man doesn't wear a monocle. I'm pretty sure that he always had a monocle, but I guess he only had his mustache, top hat, and morning suit. Oh no! I went to look up more examples of the Mandela effect, but this video is creeping me out. 15. I know there has to be some version out there with "of the world" because I'm certain I heard it. 14. What?!? I've always spelled it Kit-Kat. 9. What?!? This is bullshit. It's not "life was like a box of chocolates." It's clearly "is". 5. I never paid attention to the spelling when I was a kid, so it wasn't until I was an adult that I realized it was spelled "Froot Loops". So it's not a Mandela Effect to me because I never remembered it the other way. 2. Febreeze only has one e?!? WTF?!? 1. I thought Graham had died too. Weird.

Maybe it's the US public school system because I'm pretty sure that none of my math teachers told my classes that. I went to a private school here in Australia and I don't think I ever learnt that.

The q really throws it off. To this day I say "Barg's has bite" because it sounds so dumb.

Just came to know rn that Mulholland Drive is a real road in LA on which the movie is actually based, and that it isn't based on some fictional Lynchian location. *shys away*

But I'm starting to think it's about how we hear it pronounced. We hear it as "Berenstein" not 'stain'. At least, how I hear it. Same goes for Febreeze (everyone elongates the second half). Same for Fruit Loops etc. The Looney Tunes thing, as he said, "Toons" just fits better. I too thought Mandela had died in prison until a handful of years ago lmao. How does the Forrest Gump line even make sense anymore.

I never understood why people sang "My body lies over the ocean/My body lies over the sea." Always seemed like an odd lyric. I hated the song anyway, never bothered to search out the reason. I was around 20 when I learned the truth. I still prefer "body," it just sounds creepier.

I use to think that ALL bees died after they stung someone until last year. I thought that until I disturbed a yellow jacket nest doing some yard work when I was 17 or so. I saw first hand that they could sting several times. I found out I was allergic to the little bastards that day too. I actually couldn't walk for around 12 hours due to swelling around my groin. Nothing on my gonads, mind you, just the groin.
