I was surprised sometime around when Arrival and Nocturnal Animals came out to find that loads of people seem to dislike Amy Adams. Personally, I would say she's someone who generally doesn't give off-the-charts fantastic performances, but is almost always rock solid and at her best (Arrival, Enchanted) is easily one of the best actresses working today.
The one performance that I genuinely dislike from her is in American Hustle, where she was just kind of a mess. But really, almost everything about that film was.

Definitely agree on her being one of the two or three best working actresses. See her in nearly everything.

She's usually pretty solid. Nocturnal Animals being a mess wasn't her fault.
Also, American Hustle > Arrival.

I'd say the scattered hate she gets is more due to how many nominations she's managed to pick up over the years and less to her acting itself. If she had, say, only 2 or 3 Oscar nods prior to last year, she'd get less backlash (and even as it is, she's already very well-liked and widely respected as one of the best of her age group).
Personally, I do think she's over-rewarded when compared to some of her peers and I wish she'd branch out more and do different types of parts, as she's fallen into a familiar groove as of lately and seldom really wows me, but overall I like her a lot. Always a very warm presence, and a consistently dependable performer. And her filmography is to kill for, which also helps.

Perhaps the most wildly inconsistent actress working. She can be brilliant (Arrival, The Master) but then immediately turn around and give some of the worst work I've seen an actress of her stature give (American Hustle, Nocturnal Animals). Even though she's my Best Actress runner-up last year for her work with Villeneuve, I am perfectly fine with her snub because she needed to be punished for Nocturnal Animals.

She is a great actress. Very versatile and a valuable part of the Hollywood community of her generation. There is hardly an awards season without her name at least being dropped or considered (of course if she has a movie out)

I haven't seen Junebug yet but I was not a fan of hers at all until Arrival and Nocturnal Animals came out last year. She makes my top 5 best actress line-up for both (the only times I've nommed her, although I liked her in The Fighter and Sunshine Cleaning), truly excellent work. I have really come around on her and hope she will continue working with talented directors. Looking forward to HBO's Sharp Objects!

When she gets good material, just pulls you into her character. I think she's great.
